Pure Class. This film hasn't aged a day. Some of the best car chases and editing committed to celluloid. Under-rated and under appreciated.

@@Kilb-ill True but when you mention this film only a small group of people understand what you are talking about. Frankenheimer was using the same filming techniques he used in Grand Prix in 1966 even though he had blue/green screen and early CGI technology available and current directors could learn from this as he really did nail the you are in the car feel. This was near the end of Frankenheimer's life and I think he went out with a bang with a timeless piece that will be remarked on for many years to come.

I really like how the sound of the engines is more prominent than the music. That sound (sorta like a very clean, mechanical roar, maybe?) makes me feel the sense of speed. It also sounds very high-performance, for a lack of a better term. Like the sound those cars should be making in a high-speed chase.

@SrijitSen1
@SrijitSen1 6 лет назад
Probably they tried to synthetically create tire smoke, there are other issues with the special effects and consistency as well viz. when Sam(Robert De Niro) fires the RPG at the Peugeot escort car at 1:52 there is a considerable time gap between it being fired and the shell hitting the car, still the shell was not seen(but it should have been), what happened to the headlamps of the Audi S8 at 3:29 then again it is in one piece later, how did so many bullet holes ended up on right side of the last Peugeot escort car at 6:44, if those are bullet exit holes how come both entry holes and exit holes looks same.

Good advertisement for French cars; almost as fast and not as expensive as German ones!

Gotta love the 2 guys in the background at 0:57.A hale of bullets flying around them and they stay upright :"Fresh produce, get your fresh produce here!" or whatever french for that is. Also, that Merc isn't doing a tire spin like that, no matter what's under the hood! Also, Larry's face If you pause at 2:32.😂

IMHO that 6.9 proves there is no substitute for cubic inches.

Nasty scene and all too realistic death toll in an awesome movie. And the best part is when it is all over, and the question comes up of what was in the case, DiNiro's answer is "...I can't remember" and the mystery remains to the end. Spy games indeed.

Hope I got this right, but I’m pretty sure the guy that’s the driver of the Audi is actually a stuntman. I think they couldn’t get an actor to replicate his driving so they decided to just employ him as a character as well as a stunt driver.
