WATER CRISIS FACTS Women and children in developing countries spend on average 6-8 hours each day walking to fetch water, with the average distance they walk being 3.75 miles. After all of that time and work, most are collecting water in a 44lb jerry-can from sources that are typically polluted. Once a community has access to safe drinking water, disease rates can drop by up to 88% virtually overnight! Child mortality rates can drop up to 90%- overnight!
