Over the last couple of weeks I have educated myself about The Faces and Ronnie and I have to say I’ve fallen in love with the chap. Seems such a lovely guy, such a shame his illness took his joy at the end.
"Debris," is a wonderful song written by my friend Ronnie Lane (RIP), for his father, and is from the 1972 Faces album, "A Nod's As Good As A Wink." Ronnie Lane is accompanied in this video from 1980 by Rolling Stones pianist Ian Stewart, drummer Bruce Rowland, bass player Chrissie Stewart, Henry Campbell Liken McCullough on guitar, George Carless on alto saxophone, Raymond Carless on tenor saxophone, and Charlie Hart on accordian.
My favorite Faces tune! Ronnie Wood's guitar and Rod's backing vocals added to a great piece of music on the original. Nice rendition, this. RIP Ronnie Lane! Thanks for the memories.
when you know ronnie , and the story to this song. it is one of the most beautiful songs you will ever hear. don,t take my word for it, listen to mr hucknell, and mr weller . singing this masterpiece,
I can count five of these musicians pictured here who have all since died...drummer Bruce Rowland, bass player Chrissie Stewart, pianist Ian Stewart, the wonderfully named, Henry Campbell Liken McCullough and Ronnie himself....tempus fugit !
