I agree, but his skills weren't amazing in this match; the amount of chances he gave his opponent he could never have afforded with a player who's playing well.
I remember my first snooker tournament when I was young. I was breaking at over 60 to 70 point average when I was shooting in practice and felt great. I went from there to loosing out in the first match and not being able to put together more than 27 points in any game, and making all sorts of mistakes, as I just went blank on strategy. I was 18 then.
Yes. In snooker tourney the most important thing is about self composure. Self composure can affect a lot during our game play so as to speak we need that as a strong base to play in any competition.
Well, that was brutal by Ronnie. "Young players are half-decent amateurs." Saying it out loud is one thing. Showing that he doesn't need to concentrate, think about safety, or really make any effort whatsoever to bagel his opponent is another. Discouraging for Nasir to say the least. To an extent I feel this was an unnecessary demonstration of power. But then again, it's war out there and you should know what you are getting into when you start a professional career in any sport.
@@shaunmacca Yeah i felt bad for Nasir. But i think its in every sport that if you know your opponent is too weak that you sometimes not give your best. Nasir had enough chances to force Ronnie to play better snooker. Sadly his snooker quality is not high enough to compete on professional level.
@@udtojanpestillos2094 Good point. While seeming reckless Ronnie offered Nasir plenty of chances. He often does that with weaker opponents to make it an interesting game. Nasir played a big part in this becoming as nasty as it did.
What is this? O'Sullivan playing snooker in July. I thought he routinely only picked up his cue again in September. Must be up for it, which is good news for most of us.
@@36AccountsBlockedRIP yeah you are right ronnie usually starts in shanghai mid september. He probably played this tournament to practise a bit he will be up for it after the way sheffield ended for him.
That was a baptism of Fire 🔥 new player Nasir Saqib welldone to get to play the Rocket 🚀 unlucky need to keep your composure easy to say sitting here but good luck with your career hope you come back stronger 👍
The intent of the push shot rule is to prevent additional influence (with the cue) to the cue ball after it has struck the object ball. There was no additional influence on the cue ball here as is clear from the trajectory of the white after hitting the blue, ergo, no push shot (this is the point Ronnie was arguing). When the cue ball and object are very close, it is almost impossible to detect the push shot by eyeball (the hand is quicker than the eye, as exploited by magicians) so the trajectory of the white is a commonly used indicator to decide if a push shot happened. I think the majority of referees would not have called that a push shot foul. Interpretation of rules must always favour the spirit of the game (IMO).
A rule is a rule that's whats it its all about, take the miss rule for example and how its unfair in many cases specially in low level ! But it's still there
@@HIHaiki In the miss rule, the referee is supposed to make a judgement call about whether the player made a fair attempt to hit the ball. However the referees didn't like this rule and decided not to make a judgement because they were worried of being accused of bias and having arguments with players, so they collectively decided not to make a judgement and ALWAYS call a miss when the players misses (if they don't need snookers) which is not what the rule says. By doing this they are able to be consistent and avoid being accused of bias. Very occasionally a referee will chose not to call a miss and it always confuses people who don't know the full rule. If anything this an argument against your "rule is a rule" because it is a very bad rule and so the referees have found a way to work around it, and some players too, Ronnie will often ignore a miss and not have the balls replaced because he thinks the opponent made a fair attempt and shouldn't be punished. He plays in the spirit of the game.
Ronnie isn't insulting him, if he would have played his real match, nasir would have 0 to count. Hes carrying on with him. That much i can play in clubs as nasir is doing here. Ronnie is rocket, don't put rogh words for ronnie here. He's living legend.
Ronnie lashed at some pots but then note how he took more time on key shots like the red to center in the middle pocket and the final chance in frame 3
That saqib nasir is extremely sensitive to bright lights. I think that's what made him play like the way he did. I've seen him play in q school and hit the highest break in the tournament
10:50 wasn't very very easy time to win at least 1st frame for Nasir,, but he was completely under pressure front of super star of snooker,s sky,, he gave him many chances to try to do something better but he failed,,
In frame 2, why didn’t Nasir pot the green which was over the centre pocket, pot the brown, blue and then get a snooker from the pink? Is this guy on the tour?
I had never seen him or heard of him. Perhaps he is new to the tour or a replacement for someone That said, I don't think he made the wrong choice there.
How is that possible to accept ref's fault when there is a camera ? Can't Ronnie just ask him to check it out like in reposition the q ball ?? And when is Ronnie's nxt match how can I check Ronnie's matches any advice ('
I dont know really the rules. But was that really a push shot? For me the shot looked like a good shot for me. By the way the pot was just pure brilliance :D
A push shot is when the cue ball, object ball and cue are all in contact at the same time. It's at the referees discretion usually, although snooker is a very honest compared to most, so you see many types of these fouls are called by a the player on themselves. Agree though, it was impressive regardless 👍
I'm 100% behind Ronnie. Welcome to professional snooker. 1st day in the school. He is just showing these kids what's gonna happen if they are not prepared. Practice is the key!!!
Slo mo video wouldn't really help unless it was filmed in reasonably high speed, say 1000fps or more using something called a global shutter. At the more typical 30 or 60 or even 120fps with the typical electronic shutter of most current cameras, what the camera captures is a small lie (yes, cameras do lie) where the top of the frame is an earlier moment in time to the bottom of the frame. This is called the rolling shutter effect (aka the jello effect) and could easily show a full picture which could suggest that a push shot happened when in fact it didn't, or that a push shot didn't happen when in fact it did. It has a chance of being right too, but we wouldn't know which it was. Also, if it was very close, the tip could be hidden from view under the cue ball with no real way of knowing whether it is touch the cue ball or not. Judging the trajectory is probably the most reliable way (apart from when the player feels it and declares the foul himself). The ref here had positioned himself at an angle to Ronnie that made it difficult for him to see the forward trajectory because he was side on to it. If he'd stood a little more behind Ronnie, he may well have made a different call.
As much as I look forward to watching and enjoying R. O'Sullivan matches, when he plays like this, I implore the opponent to win. Failing that, I move on to another video.
O árbitro disse que foi um "push"... aqui no Brasil a gente fala "dois toques"... mas é bem discutível nessa tacada... eu não achei que foi dois toques...
He's always toying with bad players, he doesn't give a shit. Sometimes he loses because of that but I don't think he cares that much as long as he's having fun
MEDrums true. He has nothing to prove and he knows if he pays enough consideration playing these matches with so called numpties it would be a one sided affair.. love the rocket 🚀 the best and the GOAT
Very disrespectful play from Ronnie. Behaved like a total wanker here. Knowing this is Nasir's first Professional ranking event before a camera, the least he could've done was play like a Professional.
I don't understand this 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ Same kinda shots being played by Alex Higgins decades ago and they called him "The People's Champ" Same kinda aggressive and bold shots being played by Ronnie O'Sullivan and they called him disrespectful and arrogant 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Higgins just played this way because it was his style, he did it constantly. Ronnie doesn't play like this except he has an opponent that he thinks is "not worthy". He doesn't play like this against other big names in the business. That's the difference and yes he's a disrespectful prick. Not only in snooker, if you knew a few facts about his life, you wouldn't even question it. It's got better with age but just as the casters said, it's just Ronnie. That's what he is but doesn't change the fact that he is one of the best in the business currently.
@@micha8469 I'm not questioning the greatness of Higgins as he is my favorite too , and talking about Ronnie doesn't play likewise with big players , you should watch 2020 WSC SF , Ronnie played the same aggressive shots against Selby and he was crying the same "disrespect" bullshit , I Know Ronnie is arrogant sometimes , but do you think he would tap the table (appreciating) for someone if he wouldn't respect him???
I don't know what sort of level this Saqib guy is, but his judgement and positional play was poor to watch; especially in the second frame when Ronnie had split the reds. He needed to prioritize the reds closest to the black but made a mess of it. No evidence of any real break-building.
Agreed. Ronnie wasn't wrong when he said a few months back that the standard of play coming from the lower-ranked players is atrocious. I've seen better play in clubs - when I was younger I could play better than Nasir here!
@@boahnation9932 There are good players on the circuit, top ones that have a Title in them. However, it's the ones that are coming through and yeah, the 'snooker numpties' Ronnie refers too. Whether is a combination of things, but this sport needs sound investment of time, practice and technical knowhow. Not something to manage really in between jobs or just treated as some sort of a hobby. A lot of modern like distractions too like Smart Phones!
Talk about shooting fish in a bucket blindfolded. The WST should award a bye to the Ronnie O'Sullivans of the tour for at least a couple rounds. Scenes like this do nothing to help the sport.
