In this 1994 interview, Ronnie Wood talks about slide guitar and the various bands he's been part of, notably the Jeff Beck Group, Faces, and Rolling Stones. Wood details how he dialed in his tone on famous songs, the various styles of slides he's used, his favorite blues and rock musicians, and how he and Keith Richards work out their parts.
The interview took place in the cafeteria of Toronto’s Crescent School, where the Rolling Stones were rehearsing for their Voodoo Lounge tour. On the table in front of us as we began was a photograph of various guitar slides that guitarists used over the past century. Ronnie examined the photo and pointed excitedly to an old hunk of thin copper pipe. Our conversation took off from there.
