Lachie Neale is absolutely an all time great. Just because he plays for Brisbane, he doesn't get enough praise and attention. Better player than Dustin Martin and doesn't get anywhere near the plaudits
Neale for every other club would be in their top 2-3 great midfielders, bit tough with how stacked the early 2000s Lions midfield was haha Basically all being hall of famers. Also the lions being only the 10th oldest team to play last weekend. People said their window had closed at the start of the year but they are younger and still putting up numbers
Brisbane's future is looking BRIGHT (as a Lions supporter, I might be biased here). Just look at the youth on the list and what they can do. Ashcroft, Fletcher, Wilmott, Brain, Lohmann, Coleman is still young, Reville has a good while left despite being mature age debutant. Plus all the young guys yet to debut (Beecken for example going STRONG in VFL. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets a run next year). Add to that Ashcroft #2 expected to join at this year's draft and being touted as even better than Will. And in saying that, guts like McCluggage, Berry, Rayner, Bailey etc still have a long time to go on their careers. Lions recruitment team has been KILLING it, and this club has the potential to feature in September for some time to come.
@@Tosicc567 How the HELL did I forget to include Morris. He has quickly become one of my favourite players. Honestly thought I had put his name first on the list in my previous comment haha
@@damolang2849 hahaha ikr he's the best tall forward in the last draft at what around pick 40? He's like the perfect medium forward, great on the ground with second efforts and marking. Henry Smith is insanely good too, he hasn't had the same good start but I guess it's a harder role to slot into being a main tall. Also he's a great ruckman
@@stevelozevski8151 Different defensive structures. Very common to have the whole team in the back half. Check out the 1970 goalkickers LOL - Hudson 146, McKenna 143, Jesaulenko 115. That will never ever be repeated . . .
He may have a reasonable free kick count but there are probably more times in a game that he isnt given a free that's there, just like the one's he does get.
He must be the only forward in the last 20 years to be held/blocked/caught high by opposition…. I wonder how Jack Riewoldt would’ve gone if he didn’t play for a side that consistently received the least free kicks every year for most of his career. Charlie is good, but god he gets looked after like no others
Curnow has the most free kicks to goal ratio out of any player in afl history and by a country mile aswell. He is the top 2 for most goals from free kicks in a season having done it twice.
@Casanova-Frankenstein_93 he won't get those soft calls in finals so if he doesn't meet the physicality of his durect opponents he'll be soundly outplayed for the second year running
@@Casanova-Frankenstein_93 Curnow has all the God given talent but it's no different to other past great players in that time who were nowhere near looked after like he is. I think this is why he struggles in big games and finals because he's so used to getting soft free kicks he has never had to work through a tough shift it's all been handed to him.
