My concerns: ridge vents can leak from wind blowing rain, even with baffles. They are made of plastic, and there is no plastic that I know of that does not degrade from UV radiation. Ridge vents have a life of 10-15 years, so they would need to be replaced long before a quality roof would need replacing. Box vents will last decades. Aren't all box vents screened to keep out insects and critters? The ridge vent would be an open invitation to insects.
I ha ve a ridge vent. Is there such thing as too much intake airflow? I don't think the intake in the soffits is adequate for my roof and want to cut holes and put in those rectangle vents.
Hey Brian! You will get similar airflow, however, a ridge will never leak while turtle vents are prone to that down the road. The less penetrations in your roof, the better.

No one has any demonstration of the ridge vent that it works, there are videos from home owners demonstrated ridge vent don't work. Prove that it works, companies sell it said it works but never have any demonstration that it does. In essence, they were not truthful.
