If its square slates similar to those slates they will double nail all of them that was just a repair job for a mate that's going to get his roof re slated pretty soon now

Love slating! Diminishing courses sort the men from boys. Advanced roofing!, slate such as burlington ir yorkshire stone.

1 of the not so good parts about random slating in diminishing courses is the dressing and sizeing and getting good sized slates undersize are a pain

@@onpointplastering with yhis type a job i was learnt to strip a metre from ridge down. Stack on scaffold. Then following same gauge felt and batton the strip section at top and then dropping anothee metre you stip off slates and stack above on battons in situ. Any btrakages ya keep in same place so you know exact size of slate to replace. If ya fuck up it ends up been like a jigsaw puzzle! If all stacked in order yheyll drop straight back into place.

@@macplastering you can get the slates pre holed or do it yourself you can get a double and single puch device for doing it or you can use the point of the slate knife I was using the slate knife and German slate hammer for holing these slates but they did come pre double nail holed

Create a small bellcast behind the velux and it will give you a better finish. Lifts the slate up for later courses

Theres normally a metal trim that you can slide up or down to let the slates sit better but not this time cheers for the input 👍

Slate wasn't up to much it didn't sound solid a bit dull sounding but served its purpose just a patch in job till the guy re-slates it
