Jake is beyond patient with people.. Just watching him be that disrespectful to Jake's face is totally infuriating. He has no idea how much more difficult his life would be on literally any other boat with a different captain.
You have respect for a bunch of drunks that figured it's easier to make up drama for a TV show than actually work. Don't get me wrong, I love these shows, they're hilarious.
@@mysticjedi6730 He was disrespecting the CAPTAIN of the boat. Not just saying a few side remarks, but trying to pin his issues and blame it on Jake. Jake was calm to begin with but after the constant pouting and whining from his friend Jake has to set him straight. This is nothing compared to what Keith and Wild Bill have done to people. Even their family members.
@@whowouldcare542 so you stay calm and profesional. It does nit matter if he is the CAPTAIN or whatever.. you get respect by acting professionally... unless he attacked him physically no need to even raise your voice. This is low life acting..
@@mysticjedi6730 You've seen the show I'm assuming right? Sig will rage and yell at a moments notice, Wild Bill humiliates his son in front of the whole crew. Keith thinks hazing is okay and part of becoming a good deckhand. Jakes actions are nothing compared to some of the "legend captains" on this show. I think in this field of work yelling is basically normal for most rough situations. He only yelled at his friend after days at sea of not catching crab, losing money, and having to hear his friend's disrespect the whole time. If he struck his friend I would agree, but yelling really isn't that bad.
I havent watched the show in years but it is cool to see Jake get the helm. Never cared for him but the fact he stuck it out this long and got promoted is a testament to character
There’s some situations in which you should embrace being yelled at. When there’s money on the line, and a handful of seasoned guys working around you, you have to learn fast, and work at an even faster pace. Some guys never grasp this
1. Being difficult to get along with is never a good sign, 2. Being incredibly ungrateful to a friend that gave you a job! Jake had every right to explode the way he did.
The 2 most important things out at sea are Staying afloat and keeping up Morale. If your crew doesn't fully comprehend this.. then find another crew. I'd love to work on one of these boats. I live below Alaska in B.C Always wondered how I go about getting a job on one of these boats
You could have broken bones without having a mark on your foot. You wouldn't really know until later when it swells up and changes color. But yeah a little over dramatic.
I don't think Jamie is a friend of Jake's I think Jamie was sent to him by Elliot and Jake was asked to let Jamie on the boat. Either that or Jamie can't handle being outshined by someone else
"I don't know man, he kept swinging and tossing the line like an idiot and he ended up getting it caught around his neck and happened to fall overboard.... Nothing we could do..... * Ahem * So, anyway, I've got a position open."
With that guy, all you can do is talk to the other guys, tell them to back off with the jokes and belittling him until they back to town where he can get off the boat and never have to deal with him again. But also, what is going on with not using his potential paycheck as leverage to make him do his job without causing trouble? Can’t Jake say, if you can’t do you job, go to your bunk and your not getting paid or your only getting paid a half share? I’ve never worked a crabbing vessel before. Im asking these questions…anyone?
Your right Jake should have been saying that to him idk why Jake isn't? Jake acts like dude has a video tape of him in a compromising position or something 🤔
I'm sure it's happened over the years. I'm not a fisherman but I've seen an architect take a steel toe boot off his shin (dropped him in his loafers) and a roofing boss get pushed off a garage (luckily on to a big shrub).
If I were skipper and that were my friend, my response would've been different: "Me? I'm the one who f-d your live up? By offering you a high paying, hard-working job, trusting you and watching you fail to preform qnd be unaware of it....and I'm the one f-ing up Your life? Dont say another word unless you want to make zero money this season. I'm not kidding. Listen to what I'm about to say without interrupting me. You can't follow that one simple order from your boss, you don't deserve to have a job. your job, money, future with this boat: terminates immediately if you interrupt me. Test me....I'm not your friend, I'm your boss. We are at work. You're here to work and I'm here to run the show. We are friends in our off time. Now, you are talking to you boss like a friend. If you're too dumb to get that, I have nothing but pity for you as a friend, and disappointment in you as your employer. I, now, have to find a solution...to your behavior. one that's best for everyone I employ. If that means I fire one guy so the rest work more efficiently, then that's what is best for everyone I employ, regardless of if or how it effects you. Here is the deal....and it's the only one you will be offered, it won't be offered again and is contingent on you keeping up your end of the deal: You aren't here to make or be friends, you're here to work and earn money. Instead, you're costing me money, and I won't let you do that. So, it's simple: you cause or get involved in one issue from now on, I will unf-k your life decision for you: I will take back my offer to have you on my boat, since THAT is what f-d your life up, right? You, meanwhile... as a not employed passenger of my boat, will stay in your rack, allowed access to the head only. Food will be brought to your rack. Your own personal cruise... No work. When we get to port.... you get off the boat and take your no pay. 👍 you earned it. Do the job you're being paid to do and do it well. Be thankful to have a job, act humble, keep your mouth shut, your head down and prove to yourself that you're not going to punk out. take ownership. Otherwise, I will take ownership of your actions. If you're going to blame me for f-ing your life up, fine. I know the truth, you know the truth. You chose to be here, I didn't put a gun to your head and force you... I'm paying you money to be here! Im trying, as a boss, to stop an employee from being a liar and f-ing theory own life up.... but I cant control the actions of someone dead set on lying and not working. Complain about your job and blame your career issues on me again, fight with coworkers again, be a nuisance at all...and I will make you an honest man by firing you. force you to live with the fact that you are the one who is actually f-ing up your life. Don't 'roger, yes sir, aye aye me. Don't say a word. You can't afford it. Your life's focus now is to keep from jobless. Leave my wheelhouse, get back on deck or go to your rack....now. You're at work. I'm your boss....not your f-ing friend. Never make that mistake again." Ive hired friends and had this conversation with them. If I'm paying you to do something: do it. I don't care if you my friend or my mom: if we are at work and I'm your boss, you do what I say or find a new job. Home and work are two different places. Bosses get paid to make sure things run well. Not to make sure their friends make money. If I'm being paid to be a boss, then I will do my job. 👍
@@heavyweaponsguy6284 🤣 You're right. I meant "Had this happened to me in reality..." instead "on the show". If it happened to me on the show... I feel like I would have read about it in the script a few nights before. 🤣
I wouldn’t travel in anything if this guy was at the helm. With such slim margins for victory and even survival you’d really want someone who wasn’t a loose cannon. Granted he gets some leeway here that employee is just lazy. Doesn’t even look tired.
Jake's reaction is unprofessional... not how a captain should behave with a member of his crew I wonder if he was instructed to be angry by the producers for the sake of creating tension within a created story line
