Driving a BMW 325I 6 speed manual sport pkg. Giving too much gas while turning/merging onto the highway while it was raining. Ended up spinning out and going up the ramp under the bridge, barly missing the wall. $0 worth of damage but i learned a valuable lesson.

Definitely not my proudest moment, but I'll share to emphasize the point. I finally saved up enough for a 1st gen Genesis Coupe 3.8. Got it and drove it home, and it was the fastest car I'd ever driven. First RWD car as well. It was the first car that I had bought with my own money rather than sharing a parents car. I decided to take it out on a back road I had nearby, and I was choosing to ignore my nearly bald tires that I bought it with. I got going around a turn, and the back end slipped out on a little patch of dirt that had blown on the road. Being inexperienced, I did what someone who has only driven FWD would do to correct it. I put that pedal on the ground. Jumped a curb and sideswiped a fire extinguisher. Car was totaled the day I bought it. (luckily I got a decent check from it and was able to go and buy a MazdaSpeed 3 which has been great). Go to a parking lot and LEARN HOW YOUR CAR HANDLES. It's a horrible feeling to see your car destroyed as you sit there waiting to be picked up by a friend.

I remember in high school I had a 1997 Mustang GT. It wasn't very powerful, it only had around 220HP. However, I took time to learn how the car handled. I added fatter tires and better brake pads and rotors before I touched anything else on the car. In comparison, I had friends with E36 M3s and 3000GT VR4 and Eclipse GTXs and 300ZXs etc. all of which were faster than me on paper and they always struggled to keep up with me. My buddy with the 3000GT VR4 used to tell people "put artsohc in any car and it immediately gains 100HP". Power is nothing without the ability to utilize it correctly. There is a reason people in Miata's can smoke people in significantly more powerful cars when on a twisty road/track. It's better to be known as a good driver than as the person with the most power...who eventually puts all that power into a ditch.

Dude, in my sophomore class last year, this girl who had these rich parents, she got a 2019 Corvette with EVERYTHING, 795 horsepower, supercharged, rear window louvers, nice black color, but it was an automatic though. 16 year old girl with a brand new license driving a brand new Corvette. Its crazy. Meanwhile I'm driving a 2006 corolla trying to find a used Camaro for sale. Update: so today is 12-2-19, on 11-15-19 I totaled that 06 corolla bc of some dumbass in a pickup coming into my lane making me go into a guardrail at 60, and on 11-17-19 I finally bought a Camaro, a 1987 Camaro IROC Z/28 with T-tops and a 305 V8

I learned to drive in a manual transmission 1990 mustang with a 2.73 gear. I was 14. When I turned 16 I bought an 88 5.0 Mustang. I went through at least 10 pairs of rear tires in 2 years. Back then they turned rotors so I was at the local autozone about every 3 months having the shitty factory rotors turned. I worked for gas and rubber. Fast forward 24 years and I now have a pretty quick 2018 BMW M2. It’s not the fastest car I’ve owned but it’s definitely the most refined and fun to drive car I’ve driven.

The biggest mistake especially with FWD cars is torque steer. I'm no stranger to 300+hp FWD cars. But every car has a different reaction to putting the throttle down. Sometimes they go right, sometimes they go left. And it always gets me everytime i jump into a different one. Take it easy, and make sure no one is around so you can figure it out. Cause even going 25 it still affects you.

There is a huge difference between having enough power to kick the back end out and using momentum to kick it out because you dont have enough power or dont know what your doing. It is much more difficult to control an underpowered car that you are "throwing" into a slide than it is to drift a car with proper power.

basically, know your car. Obviously adding more boost when you know it barely handles what is has now will result in, "my parents are gonna kill"... But if i'm being honest its all a learning experience. if you're just getting into cars, you are going to screw up. but that's okay. we all do. It's about how you fix your car, and learn from those mistakes that make you a better driver, owner, and overall enthusiast. Also don't talk shit on other people's cars. Enjoy the building process of your cars and learn from your mistakes and successes. Now's a good time to start working on that tool box too btw...

Wouldn't torque-steer cause the car to turn away from the wheel putting power down more efficiently?

I gotta stop watching videos like this before I freak myself out. A lot of my friends consider me to be a fantastic driver BUT the fastest car that I have ever driven was a huge Buick with a V8, bigger engine than the Nissan Sentra that I had driven before it but now im looking to drop straight into an 05-10 Mustang GT since its been my dream car for years now. However between your video about financing cars, this one about Mustangs feeling considerably different from the 4 cylinders that i'm used to driving, and the memes about Mustang owners in general im kind of scared to buy one. Oh........ I see the problem, my little sentra was pushing about 110 HP and the Mustang I want has anywhere from 100 to 200+ more horsepower.

I had a front drive that would go left under braking and would go right when accelerating... I could drive that car down a highway with no hands.. Lol.🤣

I have a 2019 GT PP1 with a Whipple Stage 2. Just out it on. I have the pilot sport 4s bit would like to get 19x10.5s in the rear with 295s pilot sport 4s. What's the best setup for a daily driver? I dont want to get super thicc bois bc they will cause more wear on my components..trying to keep it close to stock. Any recommendation would be nice.

My first car was an opel astra F wagon. Fwd 1.6 ecoshite 99hp. Also the funniest one so far as i pushd my skills and the poor lil engine to ridiculous degree on a car with springs so soft me and a buddy could possibly roll it onto side by shaking it on the ski holders... i still wonder how nothing big ever broke. Still. I learned everything i apply now on it drivin old town road summer fall winter spring and i still would have it if i didnt hit a deer.

Rule #1 - Never do a burnout or drift or two step on demand. First of all dont be a puppet, let the bystanders wait it out and do it on your time when you are comfortable and when conditions are proper. Do not do it just because some dickhead with no drivers license is shouting at you to "light em up!". First thing I think is, "light your own up fool." .

Yes, oversteer is fun, but lemme be the first to say that the first time you floor it in a RWD car after waiting at the roundabout revving with nobody behind you till the the on ramp of the highway was clear and you almost go rock crawling at 100mph because your car was like "eyyy third gear high revs here's my power band! aaaaaaaaand we goin dis way", and you're like SAVE ME TOM CRUISE that shit is scary as fuck. Your insurance premium flashes before your eyes and as you crank the wheel to correct you wonder if you have that little pink "I have insurance" slip in your wallet today. Do yourself a favor and ramp the power slowly the first few times you rip it in an unfamiliar car. Then you get used to it and correct it as it happens but it doesn't have to be a fast car to beat your ass for doing something stupid. Save the stupid stuff for after you realize that x% throttle when you dump it into second gives you a little sexy wheelspin action and x%+1 gives you Mustang VS groups of people syndrome.

Pro tip: Know if your vehicle is governed or not. Nothing's worse than flooring it and hitting your governed speed and having the car nearly send you into your steering wheel as it cuts the ignition on you.
