Room 101 refers to the book 1984 . There are a couple of versions , the first being a single interview with Paul Merton and this with Frank Skinner where three guests compete . The idea being the guests are invited to banish their pet hates to Orwellian oblivion and the host decides which . It's a bit hit and miss but there are some really funny moments . Gregg Davies Spanish man being a highlight that comes to mind .

Pile ups used to be called "Stacks on" in Australia in the 90s and 2000s. That and birthday punches (one for every year) were the reason everyone kept their birthday secret. Also "Six Fish" where if someone farted everyone punched them in the arms and legs until they named six types or species of fish. Aussie all boy high schools in the 2000s were weird but the teachers seemed to loved it.

I presume you are talking about the film "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" - in which case yes, Katherine Parkinson is in that, but she is probably most famous for playing in the "IT Crowd" a fantastic comedy series you should really watch.

Hi Nick & Jodi, to be honest I was never happy with my school photos, in particular the one when I was 7 Yrs old. Older U.K. Tv viewers may remember the ads a company used to run, were they were claiming to make outstanding Electric goods, thanks to their scientists. Their scientists were depicted with foreheads twice the normal size. My Mam had cut my fringe & if they had put me in a lab coat, I would have fit right in. I can`t look at it without shuddering & to think we paid for that !!

I thought the title Room 101 might have rung a bell. In 1984 by George Orwell, Room 101 contained the worst thing in the world... Which was of course different for every person. The idea of this show is people have to identify things they really hate and if they argue their case successfully the item is "banished" to Room 101. The earliest series hosted by Paul Merton was much better. There was only one guest each week.

No, but seriously, I was what I thought was an ugly kid as well, and then I blossomed, and now I'm 45 and no-one notices me again. It's all transient and a little bit of nature's joke on us all. Lots of Americans have glottal t's before unstressed syllables that end in 'n': button, eaten, bitten, battin', smitten, fightin', etc.

Not to cast doubt on what you say, but in that case I wonder why some Americans make fun of glottalised "bottle o' water", usually said in a Mockney accent. They must be hearing something different?

You mentioned Guernsey Literary Potato pie etc. That book is a load of inaccurate crap and was written by an American on vacation! Guess where I’m from? Yes Guernsey!!!!!! Film was made in the UK as well!!!!!!!

Cannot stand this worm. He pushed and mocked everyone who wouldnt take the thing in your arm, Not heard him apologize to all those its harmed. Anything like that should be individual choice and staying quiet is the best bet, Then you cannot be the cause of some familys misfortune. Not him though.

As someone who got the vax, I completely agree that the intense bullying over people choosing not to take it was disgusting. The vaccine was for people's own protection and not to prevent the spread of the virus, so the guilting was irrelevant (and borderline fascist). However on the flip side, the anti vax movement were just as bad in the manner of mocking and discrediting anyone who did choose to take it (e.g. the incessant "sheeple" comments). Also the anti vax movement did generally relate to the anti mask movement, who were extremely irresponsible and selfish.
