He recorded those two videos in his car in order to show his critics that he can actually sing that well, as he'd been accused of tempering with the audios in a studio, which is, by the way, exactly what a studio is for: fixing what the equipment doesn't capture properly for later reproduction. Lay people can't tell the difference between making adjustments, so that the recording gets as similar as possible to what people could here in loco, and tweaking a bad voice so that it gets better than it naturally is.

Gabriel was challenged by a singing teacher, to record out of the studio, to prove that the voice was his. I find it absurd, but Gabriel didn't mind doing it.
