I was so excited when I thought I was finally getting a shoot. I came searching and found your video. Sadly I think it's a root. I have had this orchid for years and have never gotten it to reflower. I have taken every suggestion that people and google will offer. I'm great at growing new leaves on it. And now apparently new roots. How do I get this to flower? I would be so happy!
Thank you for providing such a good comparison video. Of the four grocery store orchids I have, only one made a new flower stem. That was so fun to watch grow and bloom that it piqued my interest in orchid care and growing. I plan to watch your other videos to learn more. Again, thanks!
Your explanations and close ups of root vs spike were very helpful - thank you 👍I have a root emerging on one and maybe (too tiny to tell yet) a flower spike on another 😊.
Subscribed 😊 I have 2 orchids given to me for Mother’s Day last year 2023 and wonder I& they will give me new stems and flowers? I see new roots but no stems. I live in Florida so maybe they won’t because it stays warm??
Em...the flower Spike will grow in the direction of the light source..the roots can grow any which way. The flower spikes eminate either 3 or 4 leaves down the stem from each side of the plant only. The roots can come from anywhere on the stem. X
I was told it could take up to two years for my orchid to bloom again after repotting it. Is this true and why? Seems like an awful long time to wait. . .
How to make a root grow downward when it has decided to grow upward? The tip is glossy and round. Can I force it to grow downward somehow, or should I leave it as is? 🙏
