You know exactly how this craft works. When I first started watching, you appeared to be a magician. Now I see each series of flake reduction has purpose. A rock surgeon.
that first part where i appear to be a magician is what we lithic influencers call "illusory flim flam". it's a major benefit to knapping. thanks for watching and commenting. fc,li
thanks for watching and commenting. if you go to the website of the gilcrease museum in tulsa, and go to their online collections page, and type in the search box there "dalton projectile", you get a number of pages of daltons to look at. regards, fc
it took many, many hours for it to get easier and less problematic for me, so i try to make it easier for others with the vids. thanks for watching and commenting.
the biggest issue is that you're wanting rock from multiple areas of the country, and a lot of suppliers don't have broad access or don't deal is stuff that's harder to get in commercial quantities. but the other big deal is that great rock always is a very small percentage of the total rock out there, so getting to hand-pick each piece is a huge advantage. for that reason, my favorite place to get a bunch of different material would be a very large, well-attended knapin where people come from all over. otherwise, you can google "flintknapping supplies" and see what hits you get. there are a lot of sellers out there - it's just figuring out who deals fairly and reliably and has decent material.
