I waited a bit too long to transplant/up-pot my tomato seedlings, and now they are a bit of a mess. In this video, we'll work on recovering them and getting them into their own separate pots.

I love growing tomatoes because they are so forgiving when I neglect them.

Fortunately most tomatoes are so forgiving. Even a couple of diva varieties will perk up and take off once in ground. I planted 6 Determinate and 2 dwarf tomato plants a few days ago. Even with a bit of an unexpected cold snap they are looking great. I have about 18 Indeterminates to plant out later this week. I've had most of my vegs and flowers outside hardening off for about 1.5-2 weeks, but decided to put them back in the greenhouse for these 4 nights of upper 30's. It's a jungle in there! Will move them back out Monday and get most planted in a few days. I wait until after May 10th to put out my peppers. Rollercoaster Spring temps, but I think it's the last of the cold (fingers crossed!). Enjoy your weekend!

I still have mine down in the basement since we have those rollercoaster spring temps as well! We had a freeze warning last night, and still some more nights coming up in the 30's through the end of this week. Hope all of yours do really well for you this year!

I started my Bread and Salt tomatoes way too early!!! They are now about 20” tall and starting to develop little tomatoes. These are a very hardy variety of tomato so I am hoping they will bear with me and make it to the garden. I transplanted them when they were already pretty big as they were grown in tall, 20 oz clear cups and I could see the root development. They are now in 8” pots and made it through the transplanting really well. By the way, the artichokes I grew last year didn’t make it through the winter either. I covered them really well with straw and mulch but at this point I haven’t seen any indication that they are coming back. I’m really not sure what I could of done differently but they sure were fun to watch grow and flower- beautiful plants!!!

I think you're tomatoes will still be fine once they are outside. I have had several times in the past where I started my stuff probably a month earlier than I should have. One year I even had some poblanos to pick in the dining room in April! I'm sorry your artichokes didn't make it through winter! I think next time I grow them I am going to try to get them to produce artichokes in the same season I plant them. Then I'll be less disappointed if they don't make it over winter again :)

@@oneseedoneworld Thank you for letting me know you have dealt with this problem before!! I never have and have really been concerned about what to do. Poblanos in April definitely describes what I am dealing with 😆 Yep, every year is filled with lessons!!
