Bill had such high standards for his art...never skimped on anything...squeezed the last bit of melodic juice out of the harmonic fruit and vice-versa...thank you Kent for this excellent analysis...love Bills rootless chords, minor second crunches...so hep man!

Hi, Kent, you are still the greatest. I've listened to a lot of you tube order to teach myself jazz. You are still the only teacher whose own renditions are beautiful and melodic. Wish I could play like you. You the man.

Glad this video came back! I was watching it yesterday and came back an hour later to finish and it was gone. I was worried you had some dumb RU-vid issue after doing all that work and it got taken down. Another great lesson sir! Your passion for Bill really shines though. He was such a genius.

Thanks Kent..i agree that Bill Evans was focused on harmony...easier is something w strong melodic line...could you do a video on Cole Porter I love his balance of harmony and melody and beautiful lyrics...

Around 21.21 - Gm is II of F not VI. I guess you meant to say Gm is VI of Bb (which is the key you're in).
