In today's video Im working through our farm chores 4 days after Helene. We still do not have power but have found solutions to many of the initial problems we faced. It took a couple of days to find our footing and get into a new routine but we found our stride.

Hey Miah! Maybe the algorithm doesnt like it, but I, for one don't mind longer videos. I actually prefer the longer videos. I watch/listen while I'm working so longer videos means I have to find something to watch less.

I watched your video about “no excuses”. I am a business owner and just committed to something for my community that I’m not quite sure I’m ready to take on. I’ve been struggling with it because I felt like I had failed, like I was a disappointment. Your video gave me the confidence that it’s okay to be honest and vulnerable. My customers are very much like you and Jess’s followers. Kind and understanding.

Yay it’s Farm chores! Thank you for sharing so much useful information. For someone like me currently in my “classroom” I love not only getting see the daily operations of your well managed and established homestead all while taking mental notes for when it’s my time to steward a lil bit of land. I’ve learned so much from you and Jess over the years. Sending y’all Love from Texas

Interesting the thought processes and decisions on how to do things with the extended power outage. Given the fact that y'all do have a lot of livestock, have you thought about doing some rain water catchment systems like Jason with Sow the Land built? Sure came in clutch for them with this storm.

Loved the content. Glad you even thought about vlogging after Helene, my husband and I went through Micheal 10-10-2018. My brain was as scrambled as our yard was, no damage to speak of to our home, but lost 2 sheds, a pole-barn , our entire fence line and every tree on our property! My brother had to literally park almost a mile away, hike in carrying supplies to check on us. We had 3 trees across our driveway, and hundreds across our road leading us in and out. Cajun Army were the first non resident s we saw, they had their chain saws and was cutting us out!! Love those men!!!

We were put of power for 28 days when Isabelle hit us. We had evacuated and couldn't get home due to flooding for 7 days. But 21 days with no power was like adapting to a new life. We made it work. Made a lot of changes after that one in terms of hurricane preps. It was definitely a "before and after" event in our lives.

❤ Great job showing you’ve created community and structure in SC! When we have power outages it feels like no one wants to help others except us, but that’s another reason I fill the freezer with baked items. Sharing a sweet or bread homemade food when we’re struggling gives a lift to a bad situation, even if just for a moment. 😊

Love a farm chore video! One thing I noticed as you were driving the hay bale down to the pasture was the amount of farm supplies you have lined up and all around. I think it would be cool to see a video on what all you guys have used and think is essential to keep around for your homestead. I imagine it can quickly turn into a junk yard if you’re not careful.

Hey Miah I'm sure y'all have considered this, but a couple large solar panels, a charge controller, and a few agm batteries at your well would run it forever. Solar systems and batteries for critical infrastructure is amazing. All of my exterior lights are solar with separate panels so I can have a light, even indoors, with the panel in the full sun. Good quality sets are inexpensive and you can put them almost anywhere. Most have a 16ft cord to allow easy placement. I have some lights that are still working perfectly after 15 years. Your barn is perfectly positioned for full solar and being independently powered. With you natural desire to maintain things properly, your systems would last for longer than their expected life. ...and a big diesel generator is very inexpensive (especially in a couple months from now) at government sales and lg equipment auctions. With the combo of the 2 systems, y'all would never have to worry about having this issue again. I embrace the grid for its benefits, however it has many shortcomings, including constant cost. Dropping things like your well and small buildings off that list is a significant savings on a farm. Much love to y'all

Maya, I have one thing to say to you about that I saw in the video that you did very smartly and made the right choice. What I have to say about that is because of the economy you knew that it was very good and you've got to buy where you had bought it for less money for it. And I think that you did the right thing when you bought the round bales of hay and saved considerably a lot of money and buying that many of round bales of hay Congratulations for thinking that way because of the economy and knowing that you were doing the right thing for your farm. Maya, congratulations for doing the right thing for your farm now, Maya❗❗❗

Thanks for taking us along to see how you manage your chores even when there is no power. I enjoyed seeing your farm from your perspective. How great that you have a polebarn for storing your hay. A few personal preferences and observations: I love the music, the time lapses were nice but wished they were a little longer as i dont have farm animals and it was interesting watching what they do as you were working and it would be neat to see how they go back to being "normal" once you are done, enjoyed the explanations and your thought processes (some good wisdom), and I giggled at the one haybail rolling away slightly as I don't know why I thought they didn't/couldn't do that! Overall, great video and looking forward to the next one! And again, I love you sharing your thought process not just on the chorse but on your thoughts while creating content. Most of the time, channels don't get suggested to me until they have lots of videos so it's been really cool to get to see how someone launches their channel and their ideas on how they are approaching it. I mean, I guess I could find other channels that are just starting but I kinda feel like I already have a report with you and I know I'll enjoy your content, so it's nice being along for the ride! Anyway, great job! God bless!

It was YOU! (finger point). Just kidding. I thought that video was really cool of him to put out and loved how he had said something along the lines of "calling me to a higher place". It reminds me of the phrase "truth told with bad intent beats all the lies you can invent" and was a beautiful example of how we can impact a stranger by our words and actions and also how we can grow as individuals when are in a healthy mindset and can be mature. In today's word, so many people tell little lies to save somone else's feelings or are just outright rude and mean with the truth and then so many people get offended and stay offended because of what some stranger did and said - this was the opposite and made me feel refreshed that people can be mature adults. I hope this comment makes sense.

The weather in South Carolina is forecast to be colder than normal this winter, especially in late January and in the month of February. I still think you will have enough hay. Sometimes we have to patch things together and find a work-around. If it work temporarily that's o.k.
