6 years ago I found this video when I was 17… now I’m a level 3 and NDT technician working and supervising jobs in the mines.. can’t wait to get offshore Thanks for introducing me to the industry I love so much my man!
I love the welding scene, but am very money motivated, workaholic because of it. How would you say the income is for people like that in the industry? To give context, I was putting in 100-120 hour weeks before I enlisted in the navy.just got out and was thinking hey probably gonna count for something if I got my sea legs already😂
I did this as an inspector. Bridges, buildings, towers and offshore. Mostly in the oil production offshore and refinery. Every 3 had recertification until a couple of years ago my company said no more. I was 63. Guess they didn’t think l could still do level lll recert. So I quit them and went to another company for 25% pay raise but no ropes. I miss it. Made feel like a kid when i was hanging in the air. And the respect when we wore the helmet. Recuse and RATs were the only ones who could wear the helmet. Now i see alot of guys wearing the helmet without any rope training. The refinerys are getting lax about who wears the helmet.
loved rope access had level 1 few year ago kept me fit ..if i could afford to do it again with possible job offer at the end of it.i would do it in a heart beat..irata is 600 quid i believe
Dallas Harris sorry mate, I can’t find you. I’m just looking for potential routes into these positions. I’m currently a crane operator but looking for a change. You’ll find me under my name on LinkedIn. Add me
Hi Dredcharlet, I like your cool offshore videos. Can I use a couple of seconds of your Offshore videos for a short local promotional video to encourage young students to start an education for working in the Offshore Wind industry? It is for students in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Your cool footage would really help us to trigger potentional new students. Kind regards, Jasper
It seems like a cool job, but I don't think I could remember all the knots. I guess it's just one of those things where it looks confusing until you actually try it yourself.
What was the white paste you were spreading? Also, what were you whackin' with the hammer? Going for my SPRAT Lvl1 in a couple of weeks. Thanks for sharing!
Hey can anyone tell me the best way of getting into the industry. I'm a 23 year old arborist so I have no problem with heights or ropes. Thanks and great video
Im getting my Irata one today hopefully and im set to go offshore right after I get it. But I do also know how to weld. But you could be a ndt inspector
