Rory was a friend of mine. I met him for the 1st time when I was 24 years old walking him back to his dressing room after a show at the Park West Theater in Chicago ILL We became friends after that up until his passing. I really miss him and being able to see him perform. I also got to hang out with Gary Moore when he was in Thin Lizzy I feel very fortunate Indeed. I still have my memory I am 64 now and still Rocking
I met him too, together with a relative, his bro, and we hung out in 1981, at the venue, after a gig, in York England, and found them to be both charming and lovely people. Got the feeling at the time , if things would have turned out differently we could have become friends too.
It's amazing that the Blues made it's way from Mississippi to the British Isles & back to me in Mississippi. So many of my favorite guitarist. Alvin Lee, Kim Simmons, Peter Green, Robin Trower, Mick Taylor, Clapton, Beck & Page, who I've all seen live. I've never seen Gary Moore or Rory. Rory might be the most versatile. Acoustic, mandolin, electric sitar, banjo, harmonica, slide, screaming strat. Outstanding music that will live forever.
@@robertrohde4579 Same wonderment here, mate. I guess their character just wanted to play music and it didn't quite gel with music execs back in the day. Commerce has its place, and no argument with the system that lays golden eggs, but like you no doubt, I lament that their brilliance didn't reach as far and wide as it deserved. Regards from Melbourne.
Hey Robert an Helli....they are my top 2 as well....absolutely grateful that I saw Rory 5 times in the bay area " Frisco " all in small venues except Winterland arena....for me Rory was and is on a plateau all by himself, an absolute epic performer, songwriter, guitarist and musician all the way around wrapped up in a blanket of pure humbleness....dam I miss him!
Here in Greece we have him all the time...I am one of the lucky ones who saw him live, at the Palais de Sport in Thessaloniki. We missed you big man..
Rory's got me through a lot of hard times, I'd just play his songs to put into perspective the heartbreak we all experience at one time or another. he was simply the greatest song writer, and far above the rest, as a master of the guitar
So wonderful to see your posts - Rory's music also keeps me Rock steady most days, glad to be in community with those who recognize, remember his unique brilliance & gifts! I, too, wish you all peace & happiness over these holidays (-:
28 years since this amazing man and musician left us 💜 raise a glass, light a candle, share his story with someone, or just speak his name - some believe you are never truly gone if someone does... I will be listening all day, and continually sending a prayer of thanks & love to his spirit ☘️🌿
Great opening track … one of Rory’s softer songs. Wonderful Melody. Saw Rory perform about 20 times. He was simply the best live blues/Rock performer. It was like magic on steroids..He was the complete musician often described as the guitarists guitarist. He lives on in my extensive vinyl and cd collection.
This is fooking greatness. What a treasure to see this . American radio missed this boat , although ..from what I understand... He wanted his independence
Mein Gitarrenheld. Ruhe in Frieden.
Rory Gallagher and Gary Moore both are amazing amazing entertainers and I don't think you can be the better entertainer than Rory Gallagher or even Gary Moore God be with them both hallelujah glory be to God
His voice reminds one of Jimmy Hendrix and yes, I have woke up with a warm woman on my mind and the Bull Frog blues. Use to get busy to "Going to My Home Town". Only the good die young which is why I am still around at 70.
Absolute great Compilation. Dont know how to thank you, Lazar. Fantastic! For me Rory is one of the best musicians ever lived, indluding the absolute masters Bach, Beethoven and Mozart. What a genius!
Hi Oliver!! It 's quite funny to read your comment because... I often say a thing that strikes people : Rory is my Bach, my Mozart and my Beethoven, and sometimes I add Vivaldi....At least dear I 'm sure you agree with me😃
Seen him in the mid seventies in the wellington townhall N.Z. one Sunday night from memory, it was his Irish Tour, nothing flash like today!s concert!s, just his pure raw talent, fantastic.
If Rory just had the hit, 'I Fall Apart' that alone makes him monumental. Some of the most notable guitar work a person could ask for. Thank You for posting.
Tatoo'd Lady, Maybe I Will, A Million Miles Away, Slummin' Angel, and a very catchy They Don't Make Them Like You Anymore were also all possible as breakaway hits, in my opinion.
You are completely right!: All that talent packed into one man, I still miss him, like I do Gary Moore. Guys like them should live forever. Bless Ireland for making them. I think of Rory very often. Met him in the late seventies in this pub OĆassidys in South Richmond Street in Dublin….
He stands in the room where every one is unique and whoever plays is the best because music is there and has favored her guests and there are no opinions to clog the ears of the listeners 😃
I play slide reso in a blues band. Three guesses who my hero is. Taste 1 & 2 were my intro to this brilliant musician, who left it all on stage until he had nothing left...
"The same old story".... A TASTE's song you couldn't have heard if you have been to this missed show because he never played Taste's songs after the band died out
Bonjour a Gary& Phil..

@@PercivalMitchells Just the more impressive "messing with the kid" part because it comes after an acoustic track and then ...music bursts and ...voice like thunder!! Fantastic!!!
Got to know his music while he still played with Taste. Awesome musician who stayed true to his roots & his fans, didnt give in to the bigger picture [money/fame]. R.i.P. Rory!
Don't know how Lazar got a so good sound on the live tracks but he is a "champion" I admire this Strat player who did so much for Rory's fame on RU-vid! I love Rory and Lazar too , unfortunately I am a no guitarist old woman😄
Thank you Lazar, This is really great with some of his less known earlier recordings which I've enjoyed immensely. He is one of the very rare musicians who you never can over play.
I have increased the volume and now I can understand why his Strat was so expensive : it's not a guitar it's a fighter jet. I enjoy the take off and landing in 'messing with the kids"
