His discography is still amazing. He has the output of a 10 year class career. Between The L Word and Pink Lavamp that’s two pure classics. The precursor to Childish Gambino to me.
Charles is my favorite ever. Even during his fall off period where he decided only to freestyle and make his beats sound lo-fi /“shitty”(also was ahead of his time in this) he still dropped gems. Please go check out his song “A Guidance Counselor’s Dream” if you haven’t heard it. One of the most powerful songs he’s ever made and again, this is during his fall off period
It's unfortunate that he had his issues in the time that he did simply for the fact that conversations on mental health just weren't happening at that time still. Had he come out today and had those issues today he would've had much more grace shown. Hope he's well wherever he is.
I love Charles, been listening to him since high-school. Unfortunately hes going to be one of those artists that dont get his flowers until he passes away, I go back every once in a while and this guys songs have become hidden gems. Thanks CH
He meant the J Dilla thing out of respect. The idea was that he was so inspired by him that he influenced his music, at a spiritual level. And you listen to that project and it was incredible, especially lyrically.
If you guys want to genuinely help Charles get back into that mode, I’m his cousin. He’s in LA right now. I can get you guys in touch if the love is real.
i love seeing his name brought back up im always wondering why people dont give him credit for freestyles i mean hes the first i seen really all off top always
The pink lavalamp will forever be in my heart till i die! 🎨🔥 if we had spotify when i heard that album on my ipod nano in 2009 the songs i would hear on repeat were "Loser" and "Come back to you" i wouldve generated it millions of streams not to mention all the times i heard it on a burned cd on my stereo. Ahhh just thinking about it and his comeback album youre talking about was "hamilton, charles" with republic records which was good imo it was different you can tell the label was behind it 100% and hamilton couldnt sample and do his original sound we all know and love
Honestly my biggest worry is that hes so obscure that hell pass and even though us true fans will be there it wont be enough to get him noticed again to give him all the flowers he deserves
I got an *_Eyedea_* , I'm going to drink a glass of *_Juice_* while reading the *_Thesaurus_* for similes of the word *_Supernatural_* .. and if I shave my beard over my computer, I'll have a *_Harry Mack_* .
I was the biggest CH fan when he emerged. Still listen to his music today. I advocated for him so much and even went back and forth with people when I said I thought he was a better artist than Drake because they were both coming out around the same time. I wanted great things for him and he was supposed to blow up. Unfortunately things didn't play out that way but I still wish him the best. Would love for a proper comeback
