"I Never Cared, I Was Careless Feared Being Afraid, Or Maybe I'm Afraid To Be Fearless Or Fear Being Fearless, But Fearful So Even In My Carelessness, Gotta Be Careful" -Joe Budden Is The Truth
"I'm like who's that looking through my peephole? When did my alter ego get an ego? He want the rims chrome. Me, I'm tryin to push the pedal til my foots on the ground like a Flintstone...... Live yours, make your own highlight. Then meet me at the top like a Butterfly knife. Then you, learn how to see without eyesight. If, at first you don't succeed, then try twice. See I don't write it, I real it. Reel it. Real shit. Paint a masterpiece and unveil it. ... Destroy it. Rebuild it. Conceal it, before another n*gga steals it. Milks it. I'm not a pessimist, I'm a realist. When you think you on, I go and hit the kill switch." - Jump Off
You gotta understand that Charles Hamilton was actually freestyling (off the top) and you gotta give him credit for that, despite what you think of what he's actually saying. Whilst Joey's freestyles are obviously written. If you were wondering, the first verse is from Overkill and his second is from Adrenaline.
Hamilton's Freestyle are OK at best because it lacks coherent structure and consistency in concepts, it reminds me of Eminem's style of rhyming for the sake of rhyming at times, though it is entertaining and is good exercise it needs better coherent structure. JB's writtens paint pictures that tell stories with more meaning and depth.
We all know Joey is nice and he did his thing here but I think he could've come harder cause Charles was coming strong off the dome with it and Budden was on some written pre-determined shit. When is Charles Hamilton coming out with an album?
this reminds of the Big L and Jay-Z Freestyle Cat spitting writtens, other spittin freestyle (Jay's First verse is written) Budden killed this, charles was nice too.. this is ... classic
ï wear a K as a weapon. 👀 through the scope incase my foe at the top of dat stairway of heaven. and i rock through each step dressed in my fly shit. iPod- headphones on bumping my shit. i never cared i was careless, feared being afraid- or maybe I’m afraid to be fearless. or feared being fearless but fearful. so even in my carelessness gotta be careful. I’m like who’s that looking through my peephole? when did my alter ego get A ego?
L-Look look I wear a K as a weapon, eye in through scope 'case my foes at the top of my stair way to heaven, and I, pop a big step, dressed in my fly shit, ipod, headphones on bumping my shit, i never cared, i was careless, fear being afraid, OR maybe im afraid to be fearless, OR fear being fearless but fearful, so even in my carelessness, got to be careful, I'm like, who's that looking threw my peephole?, when did my alter-ego get a ego?, he wants the rims chrome, me im trying to push the pedal till my foot's on the ground like a flintstone, bluetooth, my girl on the horn bickering, but even though when she scream, i hear it like whispering, i been around noise all my life, i've been poised baby all my life, just let me live my life, live yours, make your own highlight, then, meet me at the top like a butterfly knife, then, learn how to see without eyesight, if, at first you don't succeed then try twice, see I don't write it I will it, reel it, real shit, paint a masterpeice then unveil it. come i'm 'bout to reveal it, destroy it, rebuild it, conceal it, before another nigga steals it, milk shit, not a pessimist, im a realist, when you think you on, I go and hit the killswitch, Drummer rockin, he's ill bitch, if they sleep dont wake em just drill shit(?) see i'm something they got to deal with,
you are correct about method man not being on joe's level, but method's shit doesn't suck and neither does he. It's just that there are very few people who can rap on joe's level. And they have both been in the game for a while, Joey's debut album dropped almost 7 years ago man. I mean I think they're both dope and got into this hip hop shit listening to wu-tang and all that shit, so I can't hate on meth just cuz they got beef...
I'm not a CH fan at all, but what I can say is that he does have skills, as most rappers today actually don't "freestyle" off the top. They'll spit something written and call it a freestyle. Does this take away from them being an emcee? In my opinion, no; but CH embraces a lost art. Ludacris, Kanye, and Game have done it well also.
Joe didn't really freestyle, no. But NO ONE freestyles anymore, and you can tell everytime someone really does. That's the main reason I've always found Charles so impressive, he could go forever COMPLETELY off the top of his dome.
This is a clear example of why I’m not a fan of “off the top” freestyling(because freestyling can be written as well). Charles gets props for going off the top but he wasn’t saying much of anything(perfect example at 0:10), and this is why I never liked off the top style. It lacks the structure, finesse and quality of a properly, well thought out and WRITTEN verse(such as Joe’s verse).
I wanna see d12, em, yela and slaughterhouse freestyle together. Em never spits a free one on radio anymore, thats why im leaning to slaughter more and more. Those guys have bars for days!!
@aaron4801 A random person can not freestyle without plenty of practice...its extremely hard to freestyle...and to stay on beat is even harder. On top of that this shit is suppose to be just fun. It takes skill and balls to freestyle live like that. If MC's put their ego's aside more and actually just freestyled for fun without fear of being called wack hip hop might be a bit more exciting than what it is now commercially...
@cameronroyce it was no such thing as "rap songs." just endless beats. it was DJ'S manipulating beats over and over again. DJ's make you dance. and thats with any form of music. in the beginning, we didnt have lyrics at all! the DJ was the star of the show. the MC came along to hype the DJ up. DJ's make you dance, not MC's. when you say "song," thats means singing. nobody sung (or rapped) to the music we danced to back in 1980. just break beats looped over and over.
1.gimmicks are NEVER accepted in hip hop. if you think it's ok, hip hop is dead 2.every rapper SHOULD BE lyrical! i been listening to rap since 1980. if you not lyrical dont call yourself an MC. because a real MC will show you exactly how it should be done. 3.hip hop didnt spawn from disco. hip hop is a thing. a culture. a lifestyle. 4.that "make you dance" bullshit you talking is for the birds! dont excuse weak MCs with that "make you dance" bullshit. 6. DJ'S make you dance. not MCs
Freestyle is just basically anything with random things in it (written or off tha top)... they both take practice to get nice, thats tha reason most people that write dont usually freestyle real good cuz thats not what they do and vice versa... most really good rappers that go off tha top are not good writters... only bad thing bout going off tha top is you can have off days, at least with tha written u know it will b hott whenever
@MrPhillyrick1 OH and.. GIMMICKS?? COME ON.. GIMMICKS ARE EXCEPTED!! THATS HALF THE REASON SOME OF THESE ARTIST ARE OUT THERE?? 2 RAP HAS CHANGED SOOOOOOO MUCH SINCE THE 80'S 3 RAP AND HIP HOP ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS 4 AND NOW AWADAYS DJ'S DON'T DO ANYTHING ANYMORE!!! THEY USE TO PRODUCE BUT NOW MOST OF THEM SPIN AND LOOP TRACKS... But your right that it didn't spawn from disco lol
no nigga i dont mean like literally cant take time to freestyle im sayin he not comin there to play games to show how clever he is off the top this nigga is here to spit lyrics dat will make niggas understand how nice he is, charles hamilton is havin fun, i have never even herd of hamilton until worldstarhiphop if he wrote more o fhis shit i bet he wud get more respect too
as i agree not every rapper should b lyrical its no excuse for how bad mainstream hip hop has gotten i mean come on souija boy, lil wayne play at the club .. but biggie hypnotize still rocks a party more and has amazing lyrics.. all about the benjamins club banger great hip hop ,,,,
@Cheddar323 ur just like every single kid in my school, if he doesn't have more than one radio single he's bad, or he's not as good or whatever, bring me a rapper who can ACTUALLY freestyle as good and as long as charles and be as nice as him, until then every single rapper who claims they go off of the dome is TRASH.
I agree that that person should stop hatin on joe but..lif you think about it..wat u said made no sense how do u not have time to not freestyle its spur of the moment...if he has the time to write his rhyme he definitely has the time to freestyle...he is out of practice but his written ability makes up for it.
@MEEDdrama it's cool that he can freestyle off the top but nobody really want to hear that shit for too long. You supposed to spit a few bars off the top and pass it on... it gets boring when you just try to keep going just to keep going...
the only reason charles freestyle sucked is cause the dude is clearly leaning soooooo hard he cant think. Plus he is the only dude I seen go in truley off the top of his head and not reciting shit they wrote and memorized in the studio.
Damn both of them are ridiculous. Charles is one of the illest young cats out there and of course Joe Budden is insane lyrically. I love the fact that Charles actually goes off the top.....come check out my rhymes on my page and let me know what u think J-WHIT
@MatisCudi Mixtapes: The Pink Lavlamp, Outside Looking, The L Word, Well Isn't This Awkward, Death of the Mixtape Rapper I think those are his best ones, Charles isn't really what he used to be.. drugs messed him up
actually maybe its cause the stuff he spits fits the beat. dre's beat is ill but kinda fruity compared to you me him and her. but freestyle or not, its always nice hearing joe cause he always says some slick stuff..
method is not on joe's level. You heard tical2, tical0 & the new red & meth album. All sucked. Meth was pissed because he is 15+yrs in the "game" & a new guy dissed him& has the nerve to be better than him
I do respect ppl who freestyle rather than spit writtens with shit like this, but Charles still ain't that good lots of ppl can freestyle better than him. check out dumbfoundead, he can freestyle like a real beast...
@MrPhillyrick1 What is LYRICAL? Isn't that what everyone is?? They use lyrics to portray emotion using voice..through singing or rapping... I Just want to know what you mean by LYRICAL..and how it should be DONE
i don't know why people hatin on Charles, at least that nigga seems to be comin off the dome, Joe's just reciting old lines. Nothing against Joe, but Charles outdid em in this one, in my opinion
naw charles hamilton straight. but shit next to budden everyone is horrible. big ups to hamilton for even havin the guts to go wit jump off joey. joey best rapper alive.
Budden was nice, but his shit was not freestyle. Just verses he already spit. Charles hamilton, on the other hand, came off the dome with shit that hasn't been heard before.
some people write. some freestyle. a rare few can do both... Charles: songs, dope! freestyles, little better than average... Joe :freestyles, fuckin bananas! songs, mediocre
To bad Budden came with pre-written shit ... Would have been more enjoyable to watch him come off the top, cant remeber the joints he recycled from thoo lol
@THISISNIDDY charles isn't trash, the boy's hell creative. Plus you can hardly tell someone that someone's trash, let them find out for themselves what they think
charles cant freestyle at all id bash him he stumbles all over the place and uses the same words and punchlines in every video wack thats all i gotta say is wack
he want the rims chrome; me I’m tryna push the pedal to my foots on the ground like a Flintstone❗bluetooth my girl on the horn bickering but even when she scream- i hear it like whispering. i been around noise all my life. been pose baby all my łife. just let me łive my łife. Live yours make your own highlights. then meet me at the top like a butterfly knife. then- you learn how to see without eye sight.if-
I never cared, I was careless/feared being afraid..or maybe I'm afraid to be fearless/Or fear being fearless, but fearful/So even in my carelessness gotta be careful/-Joey..say that aint lyricism
