fun linguistic fact: Rosé would be considered bidialectal, in the same way someone can be bilingual a person can switch between two dilects either consciously or unconsciously
*RuPaul voice* What did you just call her? 😄😄😄 I went to junior high and high school with a boy from Brighton that would have a much more pronounced accent after spending the summers there. It would all but vanish by the spring. I loved when he had it back for a bit!
not Rosé realizing mid-interview that she was nowhere near poverty growing up, you can see the engines turning behind her eyes every time the in ground pool comes up
@@joeyhilliard5323 moving from scotland to america is a rich people thing. You only go if you can afford private healthcare and education. Healthcare and university in scotland is free. No getting into 200k debt for a degree. The fact that they left means they are rich rich.
Rosé is right. In many countries in Europe, like the UK or Germany, the idea of "fierce Supermodel Glamazon" Drag that is about the look, dance and posing is fairly new and influenced by Drag Race. The usual Drag Queen here is a Bar Entertainer, middle-aged, kinda busted, clownish and aunty-like, who works the microphone: Singing, Stand-Up, Games and acting a fool. The reason for this is the roots in theatre, musicals and cabaret as well as a general "status quo" of seeing flamboyant behavior as something to laugh at, not "cool". It is also associated with Bar-Hopping (in Hamburg for example: "Reeperbahn", a party street) or bus tours (a tour through a city, often which are famous for wine, just a bunch of people getting drunk af on a bus and being unleashed on a city). In those cases the Queens act as humorous Tour Guides.
@@karmabum21I feel like somewhere deep down he still feels that way. Like don't forget to be silly and have fun. But also it's nice to be glamorous.💅😌
I taught my dog to recognize Maddy’s voice by accidentally getting overexcited about episodes… now when I play the new episodes, she gets the zoomies and dances around for the first couple minutes
Whenever I looked at Plane Jane, I kept trying to search my mind to find who she reminded me of. I looked up and there she was, Rosé. They could be twins...WOW. I forgot how much I loved and missed Rosé. Great interview, she is so very intelligent! 🎉🎉🎉
I think the difference is Plane when in Drag has a way softer feminine look while Rose has a harsher look. Rose actually reminds me more of Greta the Female Gremlin (check her on google)
Rosé was such a strong force when she was on S13 of Drag Race. And I know this interview will just prove why I liked her so much! I really appreciate what you're doing Maddy!
@@thishoesabaddie her critics were the typical "you're too perfect, we need to see more vulnerability" which I hate. The bitch did amazing in the challenges but had no chance of winning because she wasn't as outspoken as Symone or Kandy (who had the worst track record and should have gone home mid season)
Rosé is one of my fave Drag Race contestants ever. I honestly think she should have won her season. I'd love for her to come back for All Stars, but she's having so much success outside of the show it isn't necessary. She has nothing to prove, because it's clear she's a star. Also, hottest queen ever out of drag.
The reality is, brand and charisma are more important than how you did in the competition. Rosé did the best but Symone came with a clear brand from day one with every runway telling her story. There was no way she'd lose. I did hope Rosé would be top 2 but sadly the finale was a bad day for her and that can cost you the competition easily.
@@c.k.8585 Oh trust me, I predicted Symone's win based solely on the promotional picture before the season even started. She already looked like a polished, iconic queen. Her track record, while not as flawless as Rosé's, had killer highs as well as some stumbles, the redemption arc and the sympathetic narrator storyline that the judges and producer's eat up. I had no doubt she would win. But Rosé really stole my heart by the end of the season with her engaging and witty personality and pure talent in acting, dancing and singing. She was the total package and it didn't hurt that out of drag he is a stunning specimen as well. It's a shame Rosé had the unfortunate injury before the finale and couldn't perform to the best of her ability. It still makes me sick that Kandy got runner-up, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. Doesn't take anything away from Rosé's near flawless run on the show. It definitely would be interesting to see her on All Stars or UK vs the World, but she seems to be thriving out there anyway.
Pretty sure even Rose would say she shouldn't have won the season. She was very candid with us in this interview in saying that she wouldn't have known what to do with the crown because she didn't even know who she was on a deeper level yet. I could definitely sense that in Rose during her season - she had only been doing drag 2 years and didn't feel fully fleshed out yet. Of course she is super talented but Symone was more polished, fully-formed, and had much more star power at that time (because she knew who she was). Just felt like Rose was trying to be what she thought people wanted to see ("fierce" and "shady"). But I think she's a great candidate for all stars with where she is at now!
The way the individual chapter titles clock Rosé’s entire life like wikipedia headlines about a historical figure Childhood: Coming to America Drag in New York Alcoholism
Loved when they talked about theater and also recognizing Jinx Monsoon!! I hope Rosé gets those roles that she wants! I bet she was a stunning Glynda omg
I really appreciate how honest Rosé is speaking about her life, and history with soberity. I'm currently working on staying sober - and I love seeing another performer be out and able to talk about their journey with alcohol. Plus, I found out we are almost the same age and were both born overseas and had to acclimate to a new country around the same age. This resonated with me. Thanks for the great interview Ms. Maddy Burner
Maddy looking like Rose as Tuna Burger and Rosè dressed like Denali 😅💅🏿 SLAAAAY GORGIANA That dark brow and hair really compliment her countour and shading ♡ stun. Our favorite fashion clown
this show is such a breath of fresh air, I love how it brings back queens that we haven't heard from in a while and lets us see another side of them. thank you madeline
I relate so much with Rosé explaining their bullying experience. I grew up in a military town and was bullied relentlessly in middle school - UNTIL High School, when people recognized that I sang and suddenly made space for me.
Thats true for my school too. The feminine gays but had entertaining talent (either comedy, dance, or singing) were way less subject to bullying compared to other gays
I thought Rosé was great on her season, but as others have mentioned, this interview has blown my perceptions of her out of the water. What a calm yet powerful presence! The poise and thoughtfulness that Rosé emanates so effortlessly is captivating. Glad to see she's doing well :)
Talking about singing in drag, if anyone lives in or visits Portland, check out The Queens Keys at CC Slaughters with Saint Syndrome and Nicole Onoscopi. They sing and play piano live, and it is so much fun!
You know what I like Rosé. I started watching at the s13 finale and was mesmerized by her Whovian debutante style look. I was a bit more enthralled by Mik, Kandy, and Symoné. It's nice to get this as an introduction to Rosé, as I really never went back to watch 13.
Season 13 was the first season I watched live and I was defenitely rooting for Rosé to win. I'm glad to got to know her more with this interview and hopefully see her back on All Stars one day ❤️🙌🏻
As an Arizonan the idea of above ground pools is crazy. Like every house has an in ground pool and if not every community has some type of community pool.
Rose and Lady Campden did a cute/romantic you tube mini movie post about 2 years ago. Rose is one handsome man. He's making bank as a Drag Queen but his first love is obviously acting and singing. He really did excel in so many things on Season 13. Symone was the correct winner though, imo. Some people would be such assets to one amazing All Stars Season. Rose, Denali, Luxx Noir, Mistress, Olivia, Crystal, Jackie Cox, Gottmik, Utica, Nina West, Laganga.
i didn't really get her on her season, but this interview is so nice and now i feel like i see her, i get her. Yet another wonderful interview from Maddy
Omg I’m so obsessed with this new rose. I only know her from her run on drag race. Id love for her to do all stars. And with Denali, I would be gagged.
Like how she talked about Lagoona, I do feel like Dragrace holds off on Queens who are just TOO good till they can find good competition for them. Sasha Colby is a great example.

I can only tell because I come from a family of immigrants so I have an ear for it, but Rosé still has a ghost of an accent on some words sometimes. Like half the time she says “on”, the o is longer than usual and it’s so sweet to see it poke through.
the bio-pic vs bi-opic question is very real cause I've been reading it as bi-opic forever and when I said it out loud my friend gave me the craziest look and honestly the English language is so annoying sometimes
It's short for biographical picture, so bio-pic is technically right. But biography and biographical are pronounced differently so both versions of biopic make sense.
When I was 11, my family moved to TX from my home state of Calif - My little brother and I both had Texas accents after 1 year, and when we returned to California 3 years later, it took another year to get our Calif accents back. I remember resisting the Texas accent, but I ended up talking like all the other kids - I think that's pretty common - kids want to fit in.
The accent discussion reminds me of how my mom said the closer they would get to WI when visiting family, the thicker my dad's brogue would get! He was from a tiny village in Scotland ❤
