Is this beautiful and sublime recording available on CD or other formats? If not, it’s very sad that this opportunity to preserve this magical performance has been missed. I’ve tried looking for this many times. Why wasn’t this made into a live album? ❤
She had this way of doling out her stories so that her audience didn't think to breathe between lines. I saw Nanci live once, and will never, ever forget her music. Sorry, Madonna - Nanci was the soundtrack to my late 80s/early 90s.
Rest in gentle peace beautiful Nanci. Hard to believe will never hear your beautiful voice live again. Beautiful female trio here showing such respect to each other. Sing with John Prine in a duet reunited! Beautiful guitar playing also all three ladies! Thank you all for the music and memories.x
@@shawnuel Me too Shawn. Isn't it a lovely mark of a beautiful person such as Nanci to know her beautiful spirit, singing and playing spoke to so many? A true humble beautiful artist now at rest. What a wealth of songs and legacy she left. May she rest in peace. She will live forever through her mountain of musical memories! We will continue to honour her memory through recalling her beautiful work. Blessings to you...happy and peaceful listening! Remember her with a smile. That's I'm sure is what she would want. May her beautiful gentle soul rest in peace. 💔🙏🏻
I know im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a method to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow lost the account password. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
Saw Nanci and John Prine playing live at different times ….. also saw Dylan live and he was so over rated next to them ….. they were amazing…Dylan was average… RIP 2Legends
Be at peace, Nanci. She was amazing on her own, but her true genius was how she collaborated and encouraged everyone to be their best selves, warts and all
MCC is such a powerhouse of a writer. The humanity she portrays is so striking. That's what these three have in heaps, humanity. They're so different yet the kinship in their observations feels nearly perfect.
I was so lucky to have discovered these three women early in their careers, along with Alison and Emmylou. I have seen them all in concert. I saw them all before they became real famous. The only singer missing from this pantheon is Mary Black, to whom I handed roses as she walked off the stage of The Birchmere. Long live real songwriting and real music. I am a member of the luckiest music generation.
They are the best...along with several of others...these women really have a place in music..They have such talent... I've been listening to them for many of many years... Their talent needs to be recognized.. much more then it is....
One unique gift that Nanci had was the ability to sing extremely complementary harmonies whilst having such a one of a kind solo voice. Emmylou also possesses that gift.
Still sitting in the news that another great soul has moved on with her journey ever on. Makes the heart ache but what a gift she has been to our world. May you sail ever on…
Someone should have a weekly television show to bring all this beautiful music back with these beautiful and talented women!! Bring back Alison, Emmylou, Dolly, Joan Baez and many more!!!
Saw those two lovely ladies together along with several others (most notably The Indigo Girls and Jackson Browne) on stage together decades ago at Earth Jam '94 at Stone Mt. Georgia....magical time for me!
How can I feel so privileged and excited to be an observer of the pure delight I just experienced, and as though my heart is being wrung like a mop all at the same time? A fantastically heartbreakingly beautiful moment in time. I'm not sure I was even breathing from the first note to the last.
I'm sad to hear about Naci leaving us today but she's given us so many memories and so many more awaiting for people discovering her. Thanks this is my first time hearing this 8-13-21 I love you Nanci ❤
As we end this year, 2021, in all but 2 weeks, I am reminded that we and the music world has lost so many gifted and talented souls the last near 20 months because of Covid-19 -- a virus that takes the very breath from you. Nanci was one of these who left us too soon, not just as a singer/songwriter, but as a kind and thought-provoking humane being, just like these other two dear folks who grace the stage with their presence. Thank you for having recorded this live at The Bottom Line way way back near where and when it all began. Older, wiser and honest colleagues who can sing their darn hearts out!!
I fell in love with my husband 30 years ago with Nanci playing in the background, to hear her voice with MCC is overwhelmingly stunning...heaven must have programmed this.
Was a big fan of Mary Chapin carpenter, miss her music ,Rosanne can bring the great ones together, and leave you breathless ,we'll miss you Nancy, thank you for sharing your gift rip.
The laughter Mary brings with I Feel Lucky is pure bliss. I believe those were tears in Nanci's eyes when she finished The Sun, Moon and Stars. I'd forgotten this song. So raw, honest and poignant. Follow that up with Roseanne's Dance With The Tiger... I don't really need anything more.
Interesting! You've got me thinking about the chronology of my life's "soundtrack'. I discovered Mary first then Nanci, then Rosanne. Music and other fine arts are all that got me through 2020 and Trumplethinskin's presidency.
@@Jeff-ql3tg yes Emmy Lou is not to be overlooked, for sure. For these comments though, I think we were talking about the singers in this song; this trio specifically. There isn't room enough here for me to mention all the greats in my music world.
No doubt like millions of others I fell in love with Nanci Griffith the first time she was on Austin City Limits. Heartbreaking to hear of her passing.
Enjoyed this greatly...Roseanne has that angst in her songs and Nanci ( I hate that "Once in a very blue Moon" wasn't played)...is just a sweet heart of humility. But Mary Chapin, she's the one I fall in love with after the first notes and grow to be desperately in love with by the end of the song!
It was good hearing Mary Chapin carpenter, Roseanne cash and nanci Griffith perform in concert. Again I am sorry to learn of nancis passing. I want to convey my condolences and express my heartfelt sympathy to nancis family, friends and relatives.
I NEVER KNEW Roseanne wrote "Dance With the Tiger" with John Stewart!!!!! Figures!!! Most don't know John, but he is my favorite male artist. AND, Roseanne also covered his song "Runaway Train." What a treat!! Not that this WHOLE CONCERT isn't AMAZING!!!
So glad this came up in my feed. It was all good, but for me MCC completely stole the show! Perfect, from the humour in ‘I Feel Lucky’ to the sensitivity of ‘The Moon and St. Christopher’ she had the audience, and me, in the palm of her hand. I’ve loved the ‘Songs From Home’ she’s been putting out during the COVID-19 outbreak and, yes, she’s still playing that same Greven guitar. 🥰
So happy to find this concert today, as I mourn the loss of the great Nanci Griffith.... here with her sisters in arms, such a loving and respectful concert.. so much beauty.. thank you
RIP Nanci, as the angels sing back-up for you, making a joyful noise! Had the pleasure of seeing Nanci at a small college campus years ago, amazing show. Her warm up was Chris Smither. (Been a fan of his since. MCC at an outdoor amphitheater at Interlochen Music Camp in Northern Mich..woman can hold a note...waiting to find Roseanne some day for a trifecta!
At various stages of my life, these three women have been my "favorite" female artist. Nanci's voice and songs make me whimsical, almost homesick. "Love at the 5 and Dime." I want to order a root beer float from the counter right now. Then Mary Chapin Carpenter and "Passionate Kisses" came along, about the time I fell in love. MCC's voice is like honey and tea. As for Roseanne, her voice is more like whiskey and soda. It evokes pain & heartache, and of tortured parents. Love her song "What's the Temperature, Darling?" With cell phones, we no longer ask our lover what temperature is at home. We just google it. There are a few Roseanne "haters" on this thread, and you can all jump in a frigid lake. Read her autobiography and then render an opinion (on second thought, such haters probably don't read!).
27:03 "I once saw Steve Goodman restring a whole guitar and never stop singing." i once saw Richard Thompson break a string, so he led an audience sing-along of Twist And Shout while he changed it. I was amazed, but Goodman = Thompson times 6! Wow! @Uncle Remus - thanks for this great find.
It just doesn't seem real that Nanci has passed. I am overwhelmed with sadness. Nanci was 68, not really old nowadays but to me she always seemed much younger then 68. Oh how I wish she could have been medically saved.
Saw this when it was first broadcast. Been looking for it ever since. Beautiful songs, beautifully sung, beautifully played. Thanks for posting. You've made an old man very happy.
Woow!! .. Soo Cool!! ... Absolutely Wonderful!! ... Thank YOU!! .. Took Me Back To a Different Time .. Reflection .. GOD BLESS YOU YOURS EVERY ONE RICHLY 😊
Listen To The Radio is one of those songs that takes me into my past and back to my present. I love to listen to my radio (just wish it would come in better sometimes). Now I spend more time listening to RU-vid...So happy for that! Thank you Uncle Remus for this wonderful video.
Great performances by all. The Bottom Line was such an intimate, perfect venue to see music like this or any genre. Sorry it is gone. happy this night exists on film!
Nice one, Uncle Remus. I still have a VHS copy of this show from the original UK broadcast but I don't have a player anymore. Many thanx for the upload.
