This one has hit me real hard. The Dukes of Hazzard has been my all time favorite show. Bo and Luke provided the action, Daisy provided the eye candy, but no one provided more laughter than Rosco P. Coltrane. A true legend and Icon of the 80's. RIP James "Jimmy" Best.
Did you happen to notice when Bo/Luke/Coy/Vance were doing farm chores they were bare chested? Oh they were providing eye candy for the ladies too believe you me!
James Best was truly the best, normally you don’t like the “Bad guys” in TV Shows but the way he was scripted and how he was a natural at the character people actually loved him! He was born to be Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane
Sir: Thank you so so much for making this. He was a great guy... I wish I could have had the chance to meet him before he died... Thank you again. R.I.P. James Best.
I saw James Best in the film "Sounder" (1972), where he played a sheriff in a serious role, and I was waiting for his Roscoe laugh to come out. RIP James Best
Legendary. I could watch this all day. Especially the clear resolution clips that are post 83'. If you saw this show back in the 80's, it meant that the week was done, you had eaten dinner, and Saturday morning cartoons were on in 8 hours. There were many times I remember begging my P's to bring me home in time on a Friday to see Bo and Luke Duke. Time is a thief. Fuk me.
My parents named my pup after this man. he just passed this morning. I never knew who Roscoe was but I'm glad my pup was named after such a great character.. the personalities are almost identical. you will be missed little buddy..
Ain't no other actor's death hit me as hard since John Ritter. R.I.P James Best. You were always my favorite in the show. I would not and to this day, watch an episode that he isn't in. It just wasn't Dukes of Hazzard without him. It was like a little bit of soul was missing. He WAS the show. And always brought the best.
MsDoctorWhoFan1 ....big fan of John Ritter here as well. One of the best physical actors there were. Remember the episode of Three's Company where Jack has to take the tranquilizers? that episode is my absolute favorite one.
Im 16 and I personally didn't find anything racist about the good old duke boys, also watched every episode ever made. Edit: now 19 and still, nothing discriminatory about the show...
I'm now 34 and black and this show has and always be a time less classic and it is very funny and i don't ever think its racist even when i was a knee high youngster same for the Smokey and the bandit, just because you see a rebel flag on certain things doesn't mean the people are racists hell a White fellow whom wore a rebel flag greeted me at the casino, back in those days blacks want whites to be one come together type of America cause this country should be able cope together and get along with each other and put our "differences" aside regardless of your political sides, religion, and other stuff of life. But in all we stay connected in a possible way. God bless us all.
Rest in Peace Roscoe..your comical Gui..gui..guie..always made me laugh..and you will surely be missed..but at least your back with your little fat buddy now too..RIP James Best..
While the first few episodes had him as a more serious character (he even shot a guy), I like the one more from when the series found its grove. James Best, thank you for creating such a wonderfully funny character.
I was just a kid and his hot wheels . Then this show premiered . My favorite television show of all time ! Was there every Friday night to watch like clock work !
I remember watching this and Fraggle Rock same period, I know this started in 1979, but it ran into the 80's great stuff. I can almost smell the deep fried chips on the go for dinner. :)
olikat8 Hahaha, yep you're exactly right. Sorell Booke could even speak multiple languages, yep they were smart alright and even worked out some of their scenes together on the show. Hahaha,+1.
71 Plymouth. On the reunion bbq they had, Rick Hurst (Cletus Hogg) said Sorrell and a guest star even did a scene in Japanese one time and he was like I don't know Japanese...
James Best was the most famous actor on the show. They were very excited to be able to cast him. He is the reason I got into law enforcement. I quote him all the time. He was the best. He had a perfect last name.
Just like pro wrestling needs both faces and heels, Dukes of Hazzard needed Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane. R.I.P. James Best. And thank you for your service in WW2.
Best dam show in town. Good ol southern humor. It was better than the stupid liberal crap these commies put on the tube today. Bring back the series, un altered and unedited. FJB!
