It is sad and I bet Pink had that same problem Steven was dealing with in that episode. Given how Pink acted as Rose, it probably wasn’t something she thought she needed to fix until Volleyball became a casualty that one time. I’d imagine Steven May try harder to keep his temper under control, but nothing will come to a head until someone gets hurt.
Before i always thought of pearls like homeworld slaves but after the episode volleyball and seeing the reef i now see them as homeworld's equivalent of an iPhone
Spinel's been abandoned for 6000 years with no closure until she saw Steven's message. Volleyball might had a chance of being apologized to and comforted by Pink Diamond after the crack (of course this is an implication since not much information was given and it was commonly presumed that Pink tried to change after Volleyball was given to White after what happened).
Bu Nee well, volleyball was emotionally and physically hurt by pink diamond, and she was also in control of white for 8000 years. They both were hurt very bad because of pink
Remember when Deedee Magno Hall and Deedee Magno Hall were going to be murdered by Deedee Magno Hall so they got together and formed Deedee Magno Hall? I do
If anyone is confused: Remember when "Pearl" and "Volleyball(pink pearl)" were going to be murdered by "Shell" so they got together and formed "mega Pearl". :)
@@xnortheast1106 Yes, she clearly does, the arms are in the same position. (even the fingers) Just check around 9:15 in the episode just before she open her eyes. It's brief, but visible.
People when they first saw Pink Diamond: _"Save our Pink Princess."_ People after Jungle Moon, The Movie and after finding out how Pink Pearl got her crack: _"Burn her at the stake!"_
Hmm. Steven wants to make everything prefect and everyone, sounds like someone we know.... Edit: to be more specific I was talking about white diamond. Steven in the second episode wanted the gems to do other things then they wanted. Like how white diamond wasn’t letting the gems on homeworld be who they wanted to be. :o
He doesn't want everyone to be perfect he just wants people to do something different, than what they did on homeworld. He doesn't realize that they are doing what they know away they like it while learning new things at the same time.
I believe Pink Pearl's "I'm older than you" is a nod to Garnet's response to Nanafua in Beach Party. Heck, both conversations took place in a beach volley scenario.
Dude the monster Steven feels confirmed to me, he's had uncontrollable pink power and now volleyball confirming how your mental thoughts can affect a gems form.
Exactly!! And we know how connected Steven's powers are to his emotions! It's been said time and time again, and shown many times like in Steven Floats and House Guest just two examples. And in the episode Too Many Birthdays, Pearl explicitly said "Your gem must be reacting to your [Steven's] state of mind!" When his age was fluctuating based off his mental state. And we know his body is capable of physically changing cuz of Cat Fingers, he lost control and almost lost himself in the freakish cat monstrosity. So yeah... Add his freaky Diamond powers, uncontrollable repressed emotions, and teen angst into the mix and Steven getting corrupted could easily happen in the show! I can't see that monster being anyone/anything else... I feel like this show is going to focus on Steven's internal struggle and why make him fight an entirely new entity we've never heard of before (or the creator of the Diamonds for that matter) in an epilogue series? Food for thought ^^;
What I don't understand is how if a crack like pink pearl's can be the cause of unresolved trauma, why have we never seen another gem with a similar injury? We've met so many gems that definitely have unresolved trauma as well.
@@Hotpink51 I like to think that it's a special power of Pink Diamond, being able to crack a gem's physical form with her scream. Maybe it's why corruption happened instead of gems being destroyed or shattered because it was only White, Yellow and Blue Diamond present.
@@asteriastars6757 well corruption is deff the other three diamonds, cause they blasted the earth in grief after they thought they lost pink. instead of being shattered gems were corrupted. but yeah, the scream is definitely one of pink's powers.
Yeah, you don't go to a doctor to fix your car. Steven needs to figure this out. His need to fix everything out of a guilt complex is going to cause more problems. Especially when he might be the one that needs help instead.
I think as Steven matures he’s gonna realize that being a leader is a lot harder than he thought and that’ll help him ease his pain with his mom as he starts making the same mistakes she did
+spellbound duncan Well to be fair, Amethyst needed to be set straight on things back in the early seasons. Now she's developed as a character enough to be able to do that for others. Steven helping her grow up is about to payoff in a big way.
Something I'd add about the last scene in "Volleyball": after they unfuse, our point of view is from the right, just as is Pearl, and as such we don't see Volleyball's left eye, with the crack, but Steven is on her left and looking at her, probably directly seeing her cracks. That could show that Pearl accepted the past, Pink Diamond's violence and tantrum, and refused to let them hold her down, while Steven is still looking at the past, having more difficulties moving on.
I don't understand how Pink's tantrum is the biggest deal, she did it on accident anyways and was the first and only time she had hurt her. I mean White took her away, replaced her, she missed everything, she didn't even got the chance to say goodbye to her best friend and maybe even the subject of romantic feelings, now she has to see Rose had 2 replacements of her (Pearl) and one for real (Greg=Steven), not mentioning that Rose developed probably even stronger friendships with other gems - that should be the REAL trauma we're supposed to overcome. I just can't process it why it's not the case here !! :/
@@liwkaosmaek9874 Kinda hard to put myself back into the mindset I was when writing that, but I'd say my take is that while it is the only tantrum that hurt Volleyball physically, it probably wasn't the first tantrum that Pink made her endure - and that's probably why the scar is more emotional than physical and Steven can't heal it. It's rare that abuse happens only once - and even with White taking away Volleyball from Pink, there was probably build up to it. Though I'll admit that we don't really see enough of Volleyball's reaction to... well, her possession and essentially waking up thousands of years later. But at the same time, gems tend to be very good at unhealthily bottling things up, given them being used to a totalitarian regime where speaking out of line is punishable by death and all that. Hard to shake that off when many were probably conditioned like that for longer than modern human civilizations existed.
Maybe that is what will trigger Stevens corruption that Steven in his rage accidentally hurts the person he cares for the most thus having a mental breakdown and becoming corrupted in the process.
"White!" "Oh! What happened here, starlight?" "I - I think I hurt my Pearl! I can't heal her gem!!" "Oh dear, well how did you manage that?" "I don't remember, please help her White!" "Very well starlight. I'll help her for you, but in return, she will belong to me now." "..uh, thank you White but, she's MY pearl?" "Starlight, you came to my aid and I am willing to help you - but these things have a price. I will give you my Pearl, she will make you happy. Now, I need to be alone to focus on healing your damaged Pearl." "........Thank you. I'm sorry Pearl.."
Seeing pink pearl cower in fear when steven unleashed the scream made me feel so hurt for her, this was clearly something that scarred her emotionally, pink was abusive before, oh man this was so wild
@@amytheprettyweirdfangirl3786 shy rose quartz is so interesting and such a great character with probably a great backstory i would want to hear more from her too.
@@says101 Hmm you're right things must've sucked for her the most cuz she looks _exactly_ like our Rose Quartz, I'm surprised she wasn't shattered just for that poor her ;-;
I really like how Steven calls the Rose Quarts' his siblings. Like I would love for one episode for Steven to call one of them sister or them call him their brother. It would be so pure ❤
AMYSCHILD GAMER LIVE well that takes any significance away if you don’t even mention like it’s not some little detail NO it is very much important in my opinion
I know it's been stressed "SHE'S GOOOoOOoooOOONE" but I can't help but feel Pink Diamond's consciousness keeps peaking to the surface every time Steven turns Pink.
I think “Being Human” related mostly to anger management or finding outlets to your emotions. The lyrics sound to me like they’re about taking time away from what’s bothering you to collect your thoughts and think rationally. Notice the music, too. Part of the instrumental (I believe the glockenspiel) is identical to that in “Here Comes A Thought”, which goes along the same lines. Additionally, I think the driving scene represents maturity. Now that he’s old enough to drive, Steven is going on a nice relaxing ride to clear his mind. That’s why he’s driving AWAY from the temple. He’s meditating, thinking about what he’ll do when he gets back.
I will point out that Rose didn't wear boots either (well she did in her first transformation but not in the one we see most often).Neither does Hippie Rose. I don't think gems NEED footwear to protect thier feet, it's just a choice thing. The only exception to this I think there is are heels, which seem to indicate command (so far we've only seen three gems wearing heels [not inducing the leg ship] Yellow Diamond, White Diamond and Holly Blue Agate. {we'll probably never know about Blue Diamond since her skirt reaches to the ground, but her footsteps don't SOUND like she has heels.)
Sojoboscribe true but they all had “boots” on with their “uniforms” just seems weird cause it’s part of their form not just regular clothes but idk just a weird thought
@@HavocTheWendigo That's true. My best guess then is that they saw the zoomans and some of the Rose Quartzes going barefoot and though it would be fun to try.
Yes, Gems’ personality comes from Diamonds just like when steven throws a ball with Yellow and Blue having a Special Entrance when the two jades are focused on, The other Jade is crying like Blue and the other one rolled her eyes just like yellow’s
To me: Rose buds is about the (somewhat literal) splitting images of the rose diamond bonding together (not without a little discomfort) While in Volleyball Steven portraying the fear that mostly every teens fear, regrets wanting it as a child and inevitably will happen: becoming their parents.
That's also what I feel. It's obvious Pink never decorate our pearl in a way or a other since she didn't want to be close to her to not remind her original pearl
I love how the Zoomans are still salty over Greg and Greg’s animation when he says “NOPE!!” is hilarious. Hollyblue’s reaction when she realized she was talking crap about Steven in fromt of him.😂😂 And Coral Pearl fusion had me in awe! Rebecca Sugar’s love for Revolutionary Girl Utena was evident here.
Yessss ikr? A post on Tumblr made me think- that the reason the title card is Steven driving, is cuz he's driving _away,_ away from all his problems, that this'll probably be important later on for when something bad happens to Steven (and it's his fault) and he'll realize he's a danger to everyone cuz he can't control his anger, so he drives away... And i like that. I'll make sure to pay attention to the beginning and ending of the episodes with more close attention and see if there's any significant difference and if this theory/thought has any role to play at all!
2:12 About the Diamond chords... They actually WERE in the movie in Spinel's flashback. The part where Yellow and Blue are shown given Pink a colony, that's where the Diamond chord is played aswell.
The Zooman's had a reasonable reaction to their collective first rejection. Imagine being dumped in front of your friends, now imagine being dumped in front of your friends while they all get dumped by your relationship. That is a lot of rejection and betrayal in a paradise where "no" or the subject of going without is not a concept widely understood.
I love that the Rose Quartzes don’t have the same voice as pink, I love pink’s voice actress but it was nice to see that real Rose Quartz don’t have the same voice as pink, also was I the only one who wanted pink pearl to look at our pearl after they unfuse and pink pearl's eye be all healed?
I love how happy and proud Pink Pearl looks when they unfuse. Just her looking off into the distance I can imagine her thinking "She really did come a long way" about Pink Diamond. I imagine it's similar to a close friend or family member seeing that person they're close to after a long time and realizing just how much that person has grown and changed.
Yeah but Steven shouldn’t be acting like a baby himself. Couldn’t he forgive her for doing that at all. Does or does he not love her she done more good than horrible stuff she protected earth from what she thought she wanted. The diamonds have done much much worse they killed innocent lifeforms and steal there worlds in making there own life and if that wasn’t he they killed some there own in the process. They treated how things should happen for each of the same gem when really have there own choice in choosing. I don’t trust them still like what happened in the beginning of the movie.
Am I the only one who ships volleyball (pink pearl) and pearl? In my book if they fuse (and are not tricked into it and the fusion is stable)then they shipped also Pink pearl:Steven Yellow pearl:*PiNk LiSaNiA* Blue pearl:never says his name Pearl:Steven
me and my friend talked after the movie about how much Steven was like Pink during the movie and how we hoped season 6 (we didn’t know about Future yet) would be about this struggle.. guess we were right
Am I the only one who cried when Mega Pearl fused and defensed and everything omg I could watch it a million times there was just so much emotion behind it all
This episode was so amazing I'm glad the Pearl's were able to find peace in each other and helping to somewhat get over pink diamond. Feel they have a special bond now that helps them understand pink from start to her end.
My prediction: Steven realizes he's becoming his mom, and he can't take it anymore, so he thinks about ending it by using the Breaking Point on himself.
I liked Little Home School and Volleyball the best! I'm excited by the direction Jasper is taking, I feel like this is the start of her redemption as Steven visits her more often for sparing and gets her to open up about how she really feels- after all, if she hates Earth and organic life so much, why doesn't she go back to Homeworld? There's definitely a story here! With Volleyball, not only do I adore the relationship between Pearl and Volleyball (and the fusion which I personally call Mother of Pearl, but that's just me) but I liked seeing Steven lose his temper and use those destructive powers, I definitely see this coming together with the rest of the plot as Steven understanding his mother more and being able to lift that awkward weight from his shouders as he finally fully understands her. All his life he's only seen part of who his mother is, just like Pearl and Volleyball- but unlike them, even though he has more pieces now, he's still not seeing the whole picture. His perception about his mom is being clouded by the terrible things he's learning about her so he's no longer thinking about the person she was when she gave birth to him. She went from person with a destructive power to someone who was more in control and empathetic, the very same power of change that helped him face Spinel. I honestly think that hurting Volleyball was the wake up call that Pink needed, we don't know how much time passed between this injury and when she was taken away, but I doubt they could have been that far apart.
