The CBC introduced me to the music of Jennah Barry, another Canadian Maritime talent. I came across a song Jennah sang with Rose Cousins, and I soon had a playlist of Rose's songs. Then, a few years ago, I contributed a tiny bit to the crowd-funding campaign to produce one of her songs and when the campaign was still short of its goals, I sent more money. It gives me much pleasure, pride and satisfaction to see/hear the stunning results from my fraction of 1% of the cost.
It’s ‘cause majority of people look after the top artists latest hits. or wanna be accepted in their group so they have to listen to whatever garbage they do too
Great folk music and folk singers are a precious gift to us all. And like anything precious, must be sought out and cherished. Thank you, Rose 🌹 You fill my heart!
First heard Rose in the movie "Dawn Her Dad And The Tractor". The soundtrack was awesome, (and so was the movie). I started exploring and found that this woman is something special. My wife and I can't get enough of her music.
Watched this while multitasking, but when she started singing "Grace" (16:12) I put everything down and listened completely - not to mention nearly in tears. What a song, and a what a voice.
100% agree. Sounds like the exact reaction I had when I came cross this video. A truly spellbinding, mesmerising 1/2 hour. I pass this on to many music-loving friends and tell them to just sit back and watch with no distractions.
Saw her in Edinburgh before the pandemic and just love her , her music and her voice. Utterly amazing and just hope she gets back to Scotland as soon as it's safe to travel.
I have revisited this concert multiple times since my last comment - a testament to how powerful this 1/2 hour of incredible musicianship was. Simply outstanding in every facet.
I am clearly late to the party. I am just now finding out about Rose Cousins. Lucky for me, I fell down the right rabbit (youtube) hole tonight, and I am going to repeat the words of many who have commented on this concert. Everything about this entire performance is pure perfection. An angel is singing with such beauty in her voice. Sharing heartfelt stories for us to reside in. Backed by a stellar cast of musicians. Pure perfection. So, I may have arrived late to the Rose Cousins experience, but I will certainly be on a fast track of catching up to the rest of her fans.
And kudos to the audio production team. This was recorded and mixed at the highest level. It's so warm and full and yet crisp and clear. Job well done.
This is so great. We had the chance to see Rose play in Guelph after her " we have made a spark" record was put out.I can honestly say she only gets better an better.
We saw Rose at The Ark in Ann Arbor MI. Magnificent! First heard a small bit of Chosen on the CBC which piqued my curiosity so I Googled he turns out she's playing in A2 the next week. What a pleasant surprise to find out about her. Come back yo MI soon.
There is this something that a lot of Canadian songwriters can do with the pedal steel. It's so evocative when used the right way. Yet another example. A great song, sung beautifully with a band that really gets it. I feel that the tradition started with Gordon Lightfoot so it's only fitting that he be covered on this set.
Her voice is amazing. And so is her sense of humour. Have you seen her play Jann or Not a Jann? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G5bUJ5y5TFQ.html
