When Rose, 72, woke up in intensive care following a stroke, doctors told her she might never speak again and she was diagnosed with aphasia, which affects 1 in 3 stroke survivors.
She says: “When I discovered I could still sing, even though talking was still difficult, it was incredible. It felt so powerful.
“My speech began to improve because of the singing too."
