Nestling in the small hamlet of Newton-under-Roseberry lies a conical shape hill rising prominently above the landscape and visible for miles around. It's near Great Ayton and part of the North Yorkshire Moors, hence its name 'Roseberry Topping'.
The steep hill itself very popular for walkers and abseiling, but we managed to avoid a linear descent by circulating around to the other side of the hill. The climb up offered lovely views below then later on our descent a lizard appeared just before the woodland descent.
Parking could be a problem with lack of available spaces if not early enough. However, there was another public road parking lay-by further up the A173 just past Newton-under-Roseberry hamlet.
