This is a brilliant tutorial and spot-on transcription-wise as far as I can tell. With my stubby fingers I am inclined to capo at the 2nd fret to make the A5 chord easier just as BJ does. Thanks Nir. I have subscribed!

Hello Nir, I wanted to say how impressed I am. I have been a fan of Bert's for decades. A close friend of mine toured with Bert here in the United States back in the 1980s. And was a good friend of his. I first learned of Bert in the 1970s when I heard his wonderful song, Black Waterslide. Being that I had tried to learn Led Zeppelin's tune, Back Mountain Side and realized early on it was Jimmy Page copying Bert! Right? I researched it back before there were computers sometime in the 80s and found that he had played with Bert as a teenager doing Irish country songs and ballads. It blew me away to find Bert's first or second record and hearing his style of playing. It was beyond my comprehension then, and pretty much now too... LOL! This past week, I was watching some of his old concert videos and interviews and came across the concert series where you were noted. So I researched YOU! And I am glad I have come across your RU-vid channel. I will be now going back in time and learning these songs again..... You made this old guitar player a happy dude, dude! I will be 66 in a week or so. This was a birthday present for me! I think about how tough it was back in 1970 when I would play a record a hundred times trying to hear the notes that were played. Led Zeppelin songs became easy to play. Which Jimmy is an extremely accomplished player. But many of his songs and melodies he did not write, and he took Bert's lessons and I am saddened by the fact that Jimmy did not make sure Bert was noted for the amazing music made with his melodies. Anyway, I will get to know your page over the next weeks and will stay in touch. Maybe my old friend who toured with Bert has some information regarding Bert that you may be interested in. Enjoy the summer, let me know if you get over to New York City area and we will come to see you play and have a chat.

Thank you for your kind words, It is fascinating to hear about your friend who toured with Bert. Yes it is strange how Jimi Page "borrowed" ideas from other musicians without giving credit. I don't know about traveling to the US in the near future, but I will let you know if that happens. Thanks again, Nir.

@@NirMehlmanGuitar Thank you... I don't blame Jimmy. He was just a kid then. His manager knew the drill and told the boys what to do and how to do it. Back to you, Nir!! I am so glad to see a young lad such as yourself, taking it to another limit... I know you are from Israel!!! I would love to get over there one day. I am Danish. . I was born in Copenhagen, then moved to the States. I will be following your progress and lessons. You are teaching this old man new tricks. Stay safe.

@@peterpedersen1641 As strange as it may sound to you, I'm from Israel, born and raised here. It is also strange to me how I feel connected to the English folk music, and to this style of playing.

LOL, I know you are from Israel. I had a mind block from last time... I was just speaking to my other friend in Scotland... How crazy.. LOL! I would like to get to Israel also, my other producer friend is from there. Stay safe Nir. My mistake! I must edit....

I don't know how to thank you Nir for doing this tutorial beyond saying thank you, so I've bought your fingerstyle course:) I'll start on it after I've learned this wonderful song, which is extremely gripping! Not that long ago I thought that to play anything like Rosemary lane is just a fantasy, but after I finally dared to look at it properly with a guitar and gave it a few hours of practice, I am now able to play the intro and the verse, slowly and sometimes with pauses in 'chord' changes, but I can:) Nothing that many hours of repetition wouldn't fix, but I cannot ignore bar chords anymore😃 It means a huge step up for me to be doing well in learning one of 'Bert's' songs and I have you to thank for that😊

Thank you very much for telling me this, it means a lot to me, to know that this tutorial and this learning method are helpful and that you see progress in your playing. I appreciate the effort and that you know it takes time and practice and repetition. This is how I practice and learn new things too, exactly as I teach. Good luck, keep playing! Thanks again.

Thanks, I use two cigar microphones, Neumann km84 replicas for the guitar, and a Rode NT1 for the vocal, just Infront and above my head, that the camera don't see it. But I must add that it's mostly the sound of the guitar, as with other guitars I can struggle much more to get a good sound

Hi, Nir, thanks so much for the tutorial. I'm still working on the intro. One thing that stops me is when I'm playing the first A chord, and the small finger on the 5th fret (the E) mutes the high E string. Any suggestions?

Make sure that your thumb is not on top of the guitar's neck, but more on the back of the neck- on the round shape. If the thumb hangs on top (wrapping the neck) then it shortening the fingers and doesn't allow them to be round, and to press with the tip of the fingers. I hope this helps
