I have had this recording in my collection since 1957 when it was issued by RCA on a LP long before there was a Biddulph, Pearl or Appian. It was part of a recording that included the first release of Rosenthals performance of Chopins Sonata 3 Op 58. The editor notes on the LP states These recordings were made during the years 1928, 1939 and 1942 for RCA Victor. They were never previously issued and are presented through the courtesy of Mme. Hedwig Rosenthal as an artistic and historical memento.
But there is a problem. The date of the recording is the same as the Electrola recording of, May 8, 1928. I have since discovered the recording was made by RCA Victor for Electrola which was at that time an affiliate of RCA. Electrola released it. Victor did not.
