@@UT3CTF normally it should not, check suspension and proper alignment. Overall as far as for the fun driving - the oversteering of the RWD feels more fun then AWD. But for snow conditions everyday driver - AWD might be more convenient. Thats IMO. I lived in Russia and get used to snow driving but moved to Cali and barely see snow here (except Sierra Nevada trips). So in Russia I preferred AWD cars, here in NorCal - RWD cars
Why would You compare the M5 with additional sport package and standard S6? I think that this comparisson isn't proper. Either You compare the 550i with S6 or M5 with RS6 - isn't that obvious?
I agree. My favorite might be the M5 anyway because of such things as the seats or the driving experience you get from it, personal preference I guess... but comparing it to the S6 is a bit wrong.. RS6 would be more correct.
Of course, anyone familiar with the brands knows that the 550i would be the equivalent of an S6, not the M5 which is the competitor for the RS6. However.. the RS6 does not exist in sedan version, and the M5 does not exist in a station wagon.. so yeah.. not sure what to say.. maybe we should all just go with the growling sound of an angry AMG?

Now you reference the 550i that is not in the sport line but the S6 is in the sporty line. I understand your feelings were hurt at the end when the S6 could not match the M5 but in respect the RS6 even the R8 would lose as well. Not taking anything away from Audi there great cars as well.
@@Albertisthegod Even without rs turbos you can make it crazy fast, 600hp+ is not hard to do with a competent tuning company. i only got 570hp in mine and im ahead in races against stock rs6. But i am also looking into what i can do to get it to 660hp or so, that would be enough for me.
Ahhhhh. The M5 goes against the the RS6..Not the S6..Even though the S6 is better then the M5.Not only that.He states that the Audi is turbo and that the M5 is twin turbo..So is the S6.Either way..Both car companies messed up when they dropped the V-10 out of these cars. Just needed to add ONE turbo to the old V-10 engines and they would have been better then the new v-8 twin turbo's. Hope next time the right cars are compared. Cheers.
problem is RS6 is only avant mode and not available in North America, the RS7 is more for the M6 gran coupe, but RS7, much like the S7, isn't really a driver's car.
***** What you neglected to mention is that the RS7 is still faster than the M5 (3.7 sec 0-60). So that 15 (the RS7 actually produces 560 HP) extra horses is pretty negligible.
Cornelius Lister I just said that the M5 0-60 is 3.6 seconds. So no, I didn't neglect that :). Everyone knows that the M5 has a 600bhp engine. Have a look at videos like this at the comments.
Huge BMW fan! Switched to the S6 one year ago. Love it!! Understated elegance with a punch! Perfect balance between creature comforts and sport. Steve is correct...the drive is different, but for the money, you can't beat it!!! The S6 compares more to the 550i. The RS6, if it ever comes to the States, will blow away the M5!
Again - you can't compare the M's against the S's. You compare the RS's with the M's. Also, BMW has nothing to match Audi's R8 GT. So, Audi wins there.... sorry, folks.

Audi is a famiy car that can be driven as a sports car. It's comfy, roomy and the driver's seat is decently shaped (and nicely covered), and last but not least, it is at a "human" height despite the beemer's wich is like you are seating on the pavement. The M5 instead is a sports car that can be owned as a family car, but she reminds you every now and then that she comes from the track... Then again, Audis are a tad more reliable, IMHO, than BMWs, and their design doesn't last just 3 years before getting ugly as BMW's. You can actually buy a 10 year old Audi and feel like it's close to a brand new one. With a 10 yrs old BMW, you look like a poor stingy pretender

Manseung Ha M6 is sexy too. I went shopping for a 500i xdrive and ended up getting an A6. LOL Their V8's have some pretty bad reliability issues nowadays. I was straight up scared of it. Also all 4 scars I saw had bulges in the runflat tires. What I didn't like was that there was also a ton of turbo lag. More than my WRX STI has after tuning but about the same stock.. that's pretty crazy. The M5 might be better but it has the same bi-turbo V8 setup.

I'm actually considering selling my WRX STI and keeping my Audi A6 as a daily driver and buying an older BMW M5 and putting a big turbo and new engine management on it.. The STI is the must fun car I've ever driven though because it's so raw and mechanical so it's a hard decision. We waste so much money on cars! 💰 💰 Lol

My thoughts exactly. Audi's S cars weren't really meant to compete with the M series cars. A more accurate comparison would be an RS vehicle with an M vehicle.
Matthew Tom The S6 is in between the M5 and the 550, but I think it's a better value now in the Midwest b/c BMW doesn't release awd on the M5 for another year or two and due to the tech and interior quality.

The S's don't compete with the M's. The RS's compete with the M's. RS4 vs. M3, RS6 vs. M5 and so on.... This would be like putting up a AAA Ballplayer against a MLB ballplayer.
They are both mean machines, but i prefer the Audi for my everyday driver. If I would have enough money to buy it, it sure wouldn't be my only car anyways lol.
Chicks dig Audi for some reason. More than BMW at least. I guess the front of the car just screams "money" and has a presence on the road few cars have. Also: The base M5 cost around 20 grand more than the base S6. These cars are not in the same league. Odd comparison in my opinion.
Audi's seats are not even nearly as good though.. so sitting in the M5 is much better than sitting in both an S6 and an RS6. I know which of the two (or three?) I would bring on a road trip.
Aleksander Hoff you can choose the optional comfort seats, which provide massage, customizable lumber, thigh, side support, but aren't as good looking and no diamond stitching (unless you go Audi Exclusive).
depends on what track you will compare it, has it a lot of corners then the Audi will win, on a track with more straight lines then the BMW will win. Also it would be better to compare a BMW M5 against a Audi RS6 (power wise and because you will have the best of the 5-series and the best of the 6 line)
that was with the old V10's, not with the new V8's. It had to do with a too heavy engine that only wanted to go straight ahead, but now everything is balanced.
respectloossteef Right so the loss of two cylinders create a balanced car... who would of thought? The truth is there is still a heavy twin turbo v8 ahead of the front axle connected to awd. No matter what you do to the car it will understeer with that setup, furthest thing from balanced. I mean just look at the weight distribution, the Audi is like 70% weight up front while the BMW is 50/50.

Indeed S6 is not the one that should be compared with M5. M5 has 560HP+ and S6 has 420hp thats around 140 hp difference, not only that but they compared a 2013 audi with 2014 bmw and not only that but the price gap is massive 74$k for audi and 92$ for bmw. Complete different cars RS7 2014 is the one thats making around 560 hp so it should be compared with RS7
Leo S. thats what i thought but the rs7 is all wheel drive so they usually compare it to the m6 but they should have used the rs6 here. theyre pretty close

+Drezdan Considering I've traveled quite a lot around big cities, I mostly see Audi drivers in SUV's rather than sedans and BMW drivers in sedans rather than SUV's so that's completely false.
M5 is of course legendary, but S6 is also such a great value... Same engine as the Bentley Continental and RS6 I believe, a $1500 ECU upgrade will bring the performance to the RS6 and M5 level. And a stock S6 is already as fast to 60mph as M5 anyway. All these at 20K cheaper. As someone said, BMW is the Sean Connery of cars while Audi is the Roger Moore... Each to his own.
thats not an even match. it should have been audi s6 vs 550i x-drive or audi rs6 vs m5. and the acceleration of the m5.. it will never accelerate in 3.9 seconds because its overpowered and it will always have wheelspin so it will accelerate in 4.2 seconds. if the M engineers will ever make a x-drive M5, it will accelerate even faster than 3.9 seconds. they should have compared the audi s6 and the 550i x-drive

don't get me wrong the Audi is a beautiful car but it cant be compared with the M5 the M5 is a 550+hp beast. The S6 rivals against the 550i M that would be a better comparison, not gonna lie a little disappointed with the Audi exhaust. other then that great review 2 great cars
The fair comparison should be up against the new audi rs6, top of the line in competition against merc's e63 amg, and bmw m5...Rosenthal do your homework...

+Dimitri315 It is not a performance review. It is not about which goes faster. There was no lap times or anything like that. Most people who buy these will not be taking these to the track. They will be on the road. I do take some of my cars to the track but I am not the typical buyer.
I have an S6 and when I bought it the salesman said "you're going to love that car". I rolled my eyes as I got in to drive away thinking to myself it's just another car. Well I've had the car almost 2 years and I have to say I "love that car more everyday" I had a friend drive mine before he purchased an M5. The Bmw is an awesome car. But Steve nailed it when he said the Audi is for the ordinary guy who wants the ability to have a great driving experience. I've always liked "sleepers. So I guess the audi is the best choice for me.

Spend $1500 on an ECU upgrade, and that S6 now has 560bhp and 580torque. Then try the 20-60 again. And you're still $19k less. Don't get me wrong. The M5 has been my favorite (attainable) car for a long time. But Audi has done a nice job.

Excellent video. Between the two I would choose the Audi. I like the rear on the M5 but I really dig the front of the S6. The power in the M5 is amazing.
I tend to like the understated and modern styling of the Audi, BMW has gotten better imo as we go into the 2020s. Merc is just really gross lol. Though thank god Audi is going back to the recessed MMI unit hated that shit sticking up out of the dash like a damn pimple, unless it was done like the previous s6 where you just tapped a button and down it went into the dash
that is why I said tune only.... this is a tune provided by a pro tuners, it increase power to 560hp, if you add exhaust, intake, intercoolers and so on, you might get about 600 hp, but that will cost more obviously, you can actually find basic tuner for just $1000 which will add 100hp just google, APR, UNITRONIC, REVO all reputable companies
