I've been trying to play for years and I can't even get anything to happen....it flows out of you! Great playing..anything you play amp or guitar sounds sweet! I'm gonna quit!
Hi Nik. Thanks for the demo. It's like night and day difference, but of course the pickups may be different too, so not entirely a fair comparison. However, the maple neck guitar was definitely brighter and the rosewood warmer on all counts. I preferred the maple for the cleaner tones, and the rosewood for the dirtier ones. That's why you gotta have at least two of these things laying around! Nice playing Nik, you're one of may favorite guitar players, pro or not. Have you ever considered doing a solo CD? I'd buy it for sure! ;)
Great comparison! I have had many Am.std strats over the decades. Now when i search one again i have found four of them with stuck truss rods. 2x2009, 2016 and 2017.... They have been with beginner players who have not never touched them. Now i am soon having one which i bought from the store. Hope that Truss rod really i movable....did you ever have similar problems with your Am.std strats? These are great basic guitars but this truss rod thing is a really week spot with them. I would prefer the vintage adjusting, in the neck pocket. Cheers mate!
Hey Nikolay! Found your videos looking for an amp demo. Just wanted to complement you on your playing. As a seasoned player it's not any one style that really impressed me but the multitude of styles and how each one sounds so natural. So this isnt for this vid in particular but for all of them. way to go man. Hope youre doing this for a living!
I think that depending on my mood sometimes I like maple more and sometimes rw. I would say that most of the times I like maple though. Is there any way you could do the same for telecasters? I say that because this is probably the best maple vs rw comparison in youtube and it would be great to have one for tele too Thanks
The maple has higher mids, rolled off highs, shorter and better defined sustain and a much stronger attack. The rosewood has more lows, highs and a much more mellow attack. I like the rosewood sound better for the mellower stuff but the maple for the faster runs, although that heavy rhythm round 9:50 I do prefer the rosewood sound.
The sound of rosewood is better but too much classic and not typical, to my hears, of the classic glassy sound i'm expecting from a strat. I prefer to play gibson or a jazz master for a rosewood fretboard and the warm associated with it.
