TwinSpires ambassador Rosie Napravnik speaks with jockey John Velazquez about Fierceness' post postion draw and his progession from 2-year-old Champion to being installed the morning line favorite in this year's Kentucky Derby.
The scratch and addition of Epic Ride adds an element as that one has shown some speed. Hopefully Johnny can get him out of the gate and into stride seamlessly and heading into the first turn without that horse trying to cut him off from the end post now (21). Remember, F is now breaking from gate 16 as everyone moves in one. And ER goes in gate 20 even though he races with number 21. Fierceness has shown gate speed in all of his wins, so hopefully he will get out of there strong again and get into a rythym whether he is tracking just off the leader or if they give him the lead...Good interview, Rosie!
I like JV's other horse Resilience. Rosie says it "if he gets a clean trip..." That's what it's about in a 20 horse field - a clean trip. I'll take the. 19 horse all around with some others.
Rosie !! I’ll never forget (not denman finest hour / Call) Shanghai Bobby is exhausted- No he was not. Todd has 4 Juvy wins . The great Uncle Mo and back to back with Forte and this monster fierceness. That Bobby win in 2012 was special . Great job Rosie 12 years later 😀
Hold up Steve Cauthen is the only jockey to have ridden Kentucky and Epsom Derby winners furthermore he was 3 times English Champion jockey plus American Champion before no easy feat
