Also do check out the video where these clips came from all about Soul Train during the Jack Swing era when Rosie appeared on the show. I like the music from that as much as I like my own thing I put up here. Original Rosie Perez on Soul Train: • Rosie Perez, Charles W...
Video montage of Soul Train appearances by the hottest babe in the game back in the day, a lady who needs no introduction if you grew up in the eighties watching Living Color and Spikes Lee's film Do The Right Thing, where Ms. Perez did her unforgettable Mike Tyson dance as the Public Enemy song Fight The Power rolled and also acted in the film, her first major role as the girlfriend of Mookie one of the main characters and played by director Spike Lee. Yes, actress, choreographer, and general hip hop hipster and boxing aficionado, Rosie Perez! We all love you Rosie!
She came up in a hard scrabble scene in Brooklyn, the love child of her mentally ill mother, and shuffled around between relative's houses before she ended up in a Catholic girl's home. I highly recommend reading her autobiography, sheer inspiration if you had to struggle as I did growing up in the hood in Los Angeles. Before Rosie hit, she came out to LA and was invited to appear on Soul Train. Rosie hated LA , and you cannot blame her, that said I hate New York too, so there! She went back to New York was noticed and casted by Spike Lee for the aforementioned "Do the Right Thing," and soon started going places becoming the head choreographer for the comedy and variety show Living Color.
Anyway, I'm just some music enthusiast, so I never had a chance to meet Rosie, but boy if I did...! Haha, me and 100 million other suckers!
Music produced by Shem with Ableton Live, Native Instruments Maschine hosting the Amplified Funk Samples kit and Kontakt 6 Session Horns for that horny horns-eque final touch!
