This is one of the only moments between them where I feel like they could have been a healthy couple, like without context for the rest of the show this is really sweet
@@lunasantos8446 i'd like too respectfully disagree. Maybe both of them were great people individually, but together, they were super toxic. Especially Ross, most of the time it felt like Ross only looks at Rachel as a Prize, a symbol and did not respect Rachel's choices or her life decisions (wanting to move from Bloomingdale's, being friends with any attractie guy or her wanting to go to Paris; his words were "you dont have to go, stay here with me." all cause he has feelings for her)
@@reginageorge3500 I respect your thought but, no, Ross wasn't toxic for Rachel or wanted her as a prize like your comment refer, yes she had attractive guys as her friends: Joey and Chandler, not talking this specific "kind of friend" only gave to her the job because he had a crush on her to her break up wanted her revenge her former boyfriend on the couch with the quote " i would revenge Ross with myself🤷♀️" ( but was Ross who treated her as prize). He didn't private her to being friends to someone on her job which is so distort. Not talking was he who said to her go after she told him how excited was to go in Paris. He respect her decision one of the examples was "the break", video tape, even not married when she was pregnant. Said both were toxic for each other is recorrent perception from some fans who don't want them together or at least just to be superficial.
@@lunasantos8446 They were super toxic to each other, going back and forth for ages. Rachel trying to hide the truth of Emma's conception and then trying to lie about who came on to whom to their friends being examples of just how poor they were to each other. Even after 7+ years ago, Ross was still super jealous and untrusting about Rachel's relationships with other guys with is never healthy
Yep- they waited until 5 years after the show jumped the Shark to put them together -which was dumb. The whole Joey/Rachel thing was the worst part of the series. The finale was terrible. The Monica/Chandler year was the impressive second wind to make it a classic.
@@dsscam But absolute passionate real hug n kiss between David and Jen in private take of the finale, shown for public only at the Reunion 2021 - say a lot!
There was so much talent on this show. David Schwimmer is amazing here. The casting for this show was spot on and casting agents don't get enough credit. Well done folks, this is a show that just keeps on giving. Always a good rewatch.
I actually oddly find them insufferable. This was recommended to me and I wanted to see if I still didn't like it and I don't. I love how much people love the show and are die hards though! It's endearing
Rachel makes it pathetic! She is so spoiled. She wants him but doesn't want him to have a life outside of her yet she doesn't want to have to commit to him. She never did. He was always there for her ever since her prom.
@@Beezlie727 bla bla bla he loved her even when she was a spoiled, Wtv he's a grown up man he can choice another woman but he choice her, relax it a tv show it's about their life not yours 🤣
@@Beezlie727 not every relationship and personality is cotton candy disney fairytale with butterflies where everyone is a doormat, some dudes have a thing for abrasive personalities like Rachel's, there's a whole cult classic book on it "why men love b*tches"
1:52 Ross’s face. Like his dream since 9th grade came true. David Schwimmer’s expressions says a lot that he is an amazing actor. I heard he didn’t even have to audition for this role. I believe it. And thinking they had real life crushes on each other 😩 2:45 I can’t. The desperation in their faces. 🥺
@@Every634 they chose 1:52 as a starting points because that's when Rachel states she has feelings for Ross, which is the setup for his expression at 1:57. I find that to be a much better choice of a starting point than people just bluntly referencing timestamps in videos where context would be relevant but is skipped over.
This scene is flawless. Especially the way Ross has that frozen paralyzed expression of shock on his face the whole time while Rachel is literally jumping on his back and sending him stumbling - LOL! And “when were you UNDER me?” is one of the funniest written and delivered lines in TV history.
Acting by David is incredible. He had to portray how a guy feels when he finds out that his crush had feelings for him and he absolutely nailed it. A guy would behave exactly like this. It’s sweet and funny In TV shows, some scenes live forever and this was one of them.
Don't forget that he was also playing the character and had to account for that. Absolutely masterful. It looks insanely hard, I have no idea how actors can do it
There are tons of ways the line "I'll be right down" could have been delivered, but the way David delivered this line was I think the most hilariously perfect way ever!
So true. The whole cast was great at turning simple lines into moments of hilarity. I was just watching the clip of Ross banging down the door after discovering Monica and Chandler. Monica opens the door with “Hey Ross, what’s up bro?” But the way Courteney delivers that line in this high pitched, ridiculous voice had me rolling.
This is literally the best show. The way the writers timed these moments was always good. The time when Rachel walked across the living room to kiss Ross when she found out he was going to be her prom date was perfect. Also the time when Ross came back to the coffee shop and Rachel had to unlock allllll of those locks lol it was so sweet but funny. And the ending of the entire show was the absolute best. For those who know: "I got off the plane." Melts my heart every time. 🎉
Chandler gave Ross some advice before China to forget about Rachel, so Ross did try with Julie because he didn't think he would ever get a chance with Rachel. Rachel was the love of his life. So is it shocking he forgets about the whole world except Rachel when she told him she loves him too? not really.
Omg I just looked it up The two were rocked by rumors of a real-life romance after they admitted during the reunion that they’d had “major crushes” on each other when they filmed the first couple of seasons of the show. However, the two confessed that nothing became of the feelings.
I think it’s great how they both had feelings for each other in real life while working on the show but never dated in real life and used those feelings they had for the characters. That made their relationship more believable and also you could see it come through the screen.
He’s sooo good at the dorky physical comedy. Honestly doesn’t get enough credit for his physical comedy. He & Matthew both, especially in the early years.
1:17 The fact that she was actually over his body when he was asking ..you are over me ?? Is tooo cute and funny and my favourite scene from the series.
I remember the extreme anticipation the entire summer for this episode to air as S2E1. I was the same age as the characters, so everything was so relatable.
"You're over me? When were you......under me?" David Schwimner was a complete Ross here. He says it in such a way that you actually feel, he hasn't understood the Double Entendre.
One of my favorite scenes of any TV show ever! Knowing the future of Ross/Rachel's relationship through the series finale leaves me smiling every time!
To this day, this is my favorite scene from Friends. I even bought the Limited T-shirt last year from it. David and Jen had such incredible chemistry. If I want to laugh out loud, this is the show I go to.
David is comedy gold in this scene, he really is. Everything about his delivery, his timing, his facial expressions, his eyes, just...everything. Obviously the writers nailed it spot on as well, and Aniston is great in this also, but David's performance during this scene is what makes it SOOO very memorable even decades later.
My absolute favorite scene with Rachel - never ever has she been more beautiful than when her upset breathing moves her hair... And when they stand closer both asking if they're over each other...
I wonder if they did this in one take. By the reaction of the studio audience it sounds like they did. Jennifer did a great job trying to get to David. She never took her eyes off him or the phone when she walked over the couch and rode him piggyback. Not usually talked about but one of the best sight gags in this show.
Ive seen that scene million times and still made me smile, transport me when i was 17 watching these guys trying to live their lives and Just being my friends.
Before watching the show i dreaded the love story of Ross and Rachel. I somehow felt that Rachel deserved someone better till I started to watch it. I never knew when i got so much invested in their love story that i waited for 10 seasons for them to finally be together. I can’t deny that the show runners diverted our attention towards other stories during the middle part of the show but somehow their finales always brought back the attention on Ross and Rachel and my curiosity always peaked. Their would they won’t they relationship never bored me. If i like the love story of Monica and Chandler, i adore the chemistry of Ross and Rachel. To me they were the stars around which the major part of the show orbited. I loved them when they were raising their daughter together or when they were having the best time of their lives telling everyone in Ross’s party about their fake marriage.
I love this scene for many many reasons. My favourite reasons being Ross being hilarious and the fact he forgot all about Julie and the way Rachel confesses nervously
@@rebecca8525 it was not wrong at all. It's like a break up, if you sleep with someone even 1 minute after a break up it might hurt me yes but point is we were broken up...
Ross always moves too fast on his relationships... That's why he gets himself in a lot of trouble. You've just met the girl Ross... Don't go and get a 😺 🤣🤣🤣
We cannot blame Ross/ such characters , cause they're good catch for single womens. On the other hand people like him may believe in marriage/ relationship always. Moreover he didn't got in trouble cause he was moving fast in relationship, but his soul crush always messing around his head and near around his presence. Come on you cannot differentiate the feelings on that environment.
They always, always had insane chemistry, not just during the first 3 seasons when everything was good - only people who really don't understand this story and TV writing, think that. David and Jen had palpable chemistry even when Ross and Rachel were fighting - they just belonged together, period! They were the first, fully fleshed out, and brilliantly written on-and-off couple in TV history!
They lost that chemistry after the season Ross married Emily. Ross's personality changed and it just didn't feel the same anymore. By the last season when they got back together, it didn't feel authentic like it had in the 3rd season.
I hated Ross so much. But rewatching all these clips of Friends here I've come to appreciate how good a part David Schwimmer played and how funny Ross actually was.
This was by far Ross's best moment, faced with that confession from the biggest love of his life and he walked away to his girlfriend. Then he broke up with his girlfriend, truely honorable.
I loved the WOAH ::points finger:: like a defense move when she said "yeah, so you had feelings 1st"! 😢 at that moment he was like......... WTF how did u know? 😂
Back in 1995 here in uk someone used to send me takes from USA .. I can watch this scene now in 2024 and it still hits me emotionally .. the writing . The acting .. ❤
