I bought the wood stock version about 2 months ago and have about 300 rounds through it so far and no problems. I paid $299 plus tax and so far I have enjoyed it as a fun plinking toy.
Wow. I’ve been going back and forth between this Rossi and the Henry 001, deciding which way to go. I think your video pretty much made up my mind. The Henry is a classic, made in Bayonne, NJ, and has legendary CS. Thanks!
Paid $285 for mine, so far it’s a good little camp gun. It’s not cracked, looks like the chamber clamp is thicker now. I can tell it will break, if you abuse it, and I don’t abuse my Henry rifle either. Just take care of what you paid for.
picked one up not long ago. took it apart to clean it before taking it out to the range and the frame is cracked in the exact same spot. I haven't even shot it yet...
I bought one last year also. Wish I had bought a 10 22 instead. The gun store had one right beside the gallery gun and was practically the same price. I'll not get another Rossi without looking at an indepth review.

I just purchased a Rio Bravo and removed the side plate/bolt to clean it before it's first outing. Found a BIG crack on the receiver where the barrel is attached.
You do excellent job here. I was thinking about a Rossi until you enlightened us that they’re switched away from doing the quality clones. On their use of a ZINC or zinc alloy, that’s really a serious shortchange to us consumers. Other revived popular name brands, even Ruger with their Ruger American rimfires are using Zinc alloys in the gun’s guts. Parts that used to be made of steel (even stamped steel) are now being made of this cheap pot metal. There IS something seriously wrong with this: Zinc and zinc alloys are BRITTLE. They aren’t going to survive drop tests. There are two reasons we all purchase firearms: To enjoy at the range and for hunting, plus ya never know, we might need them for protection against bad guys. THAT’S why Zinc is totally wrong. Savage is using Zinc as well in their Accutrigger. What??? Thanks for a great job.
I've had two Rossi pump .22s, the original models, and both were junk. The first one was incredibly inaccurate. Turned out, that the rifling petered out about 10 inches from the muzzle. Turned into a smoothbore. A several years later I bought another one. That one constantly jammed in every way. Failure to feed, failure to eject, failure to fire, and so on. So my experiences with Rossi are over and done. Total crap!
Got one about 8 months ago. Brought it to the range yesterday after not using it for like 6 months. Wouldn't feed. Stripped the gun... reciever is cracked. I want to contact Rossi, but after hearing your stories, sounds like I'm better off leaving it be and taking the L.
I've been on the fence for a few weeks now Rossi or Henry I definitely like the Rossi cuz it's a clone of the Winchester action. But it looks like I do have to go over the Henry
You should of bought the wooden one, I bought that one no issues, it's a 200 rifle you get what you get. You're not buying a sig or anything else. My Rossi has alot of potential still functioning fine and accurate. Maybe if you take the time and actually call Rossi customer service they'll take care of you. But if you're going to cry and do nothing about it, nothing is going to get fixed
I recently received a Rossi Gallery gun with a crack in the receiver from the factory. They said it can't be repaired and they will send me a replacement but I have to pay for the FFL transfer. It never worked correctly from day one. They will not tell me if they actually have one that they can replace it with. Too bad, I really wanted this to work.
I think you just got lucky and got that 1 pice of shit that's not put together good with failed parts. I got one and its been a really good plinker no problems yet, knock on wood lol.
I just went a round with Heritage over some revolver grips. The two sides were different color stain (or whatever they coat the wood with), one darker than the other. I contacted them, they made me send them photos, then they said "due to wood variations... blah blah...there is nothing wrong". I could send them back (at my expense of course) for a refund. That still doesn't get me the grips I wanted for a theme project so I'd have to order more grips, pay shipping again and even those could be mismatched. When I didn't reply after their b/s excuse it took roughly 3-4 weeks and they sent me another email inquiring as to if I wanted to send them back... blah blah... I replied NO, I'll just refinish them instead of being out the money, having to order another set and possibly getting mismatched again... and that I'd be sure to keep in mind their idiotic position. By the way, these grips are made for them by Altamont, who has a long history of making custom grips for mfgs. like Smith, Ruger, Taurus...
Sorry yours didn't work out. Mines didn't work out either. My video is on RU-vid about the Rio Bravo lever action that had a barrel that started chipping and cracking in the muzzle on the first trip to the range. I shot about 60 rounds is all.
To bad, Mine was broken out of the box, cracked on both sides of the barrel band. After several about 12 attempts over a few weeks I finally was able to contact someone at their customer support. I sent it in and they replaced it with a new one that is as of yet not cracked, but I treat it like it is made from glass. It's a poor design and I expect it will probably break again being made from a very thin extremely brittle and weak material meant to join the front and back half of the gun together. 1 year warranty and then you are on your own. This was one of my least wise purchasing decisions.
Argh!!! And I was going to buy a Rossi pump. Not now. I'm paying the extra $200 for a Henry. Strange, but it seems that the problem Rossi pumps have had, have been with the "plastic" furniture models. Has Rossi, by now, made "Happy" with you?
I enjoy shooting my Rossi Galley gun. Sucks you got a lemon. I've shot 600 rounds No problems. I put a cheap $60 Red dot on mine from amazon. Decent accuracy for what it is. It's No Henry but decent.
I really think the problem has more to do with a fundamental design flaw than a 5 or 10% lemon rate. I'm 99% sure it will function for a fairly long time with a cracked receiver at the barrel mount. you're more likely to have significant wear on the bolt contact surfaces than have the pressure shift the barrel (which is still being held by a roll pin) it's a horrible design and absolutel ynot a replacement for a winchester design pump. I have a few of the older rossi 1890 clones and they are decent. (and mostly parts compatible)
I bought this rifle and straight out-of-the-box every screw was loose I tightened them down and everything runs fine now but what the hell about quality control
Since the pump action gallery gun and the "Rio Bravo" lever action look very similar, the barrel receiver on the Rio Bravo is probably the same. Can anyone confirm this?

Could be worse, you could have bought a Henry H001 and the sights are canted on the barrel ( front post to the right, rear to the left ) and the rear dove slot isn't cut square. Wasn't exactly thrilled when I bought it and something didn't look right, put it in my Tipton vise and got my wheeler levels out to discover how bad it really was, not even a single shot put through and it went right back.
hey Brother, I know its been a year but I was wondering if you every tried to make a repair to this Rossi? I had a same kind of cracking on an item that needed high strenght at a pressure fitting much like the barrel to reciver you show here and I used super alloy 1 by muggyweld to fix it. It is easy to use, has a low melting point(350f), and a 20000 psi bond strength. It bonds different types of metal together as well, perhaps it could repair your crack and perminantly attach the barrel? would that be a thing to do on a 22 riflle? It fixed an old ramset powershot right up and that fires a .22 power blank load to embed big nails into cement. Its a pretty heavy duty nail driver and we neve have a problem with it now, I wonder if super alloy 1 would work for you.
i almost bought one the other day but decided to read some reviews first . i guess it's hit or miss on them but sounds bad quality control , they are cool looking feel good to hold but i'll pass.
How in the hell did you get this thing back together? I’ve been trying all damn day and can’t find any videos of anyone putting it back together online.
It’s pretty easy the way I did it was place the cover first, then slide the bolt on from the back and it all falls in place. You will have to force the cover down a bit to get it to align.
Didn’t have any of these issues 🤷🏻🤷🏻 just put 350 rounds through it today. Gun preformed amazing no crack no loose barrel band love the fully adjustable fiber optics. I can shoot about a 2” grouping at 30 yards no problem. Sounds like you maybe got a lemon or with the way you talk about it wouldn’t surprise me if you threw it or something.
Omg. 2-in groups at 30 yards. Amazing it's almost 6 moa.... Because I can almost shoot this thing as well as the most burned out mosin nagant on the planet, I'm going to accuse the reviewer of throwing his gun at concrete floors because I don't like what he said. Dude, I don't know if you've ever used anything made after 1890 but adjustable sights on a rifle is not actually that big a deal. 2 inchgroups at 30 yards!!!
@@ChristofHarper just saying all these things seem to be a one off and he’s just crying about it I’ve watched plenty of people review these and know more who actually own it. Never had anyone complain besides the most minor things. I’m sure it’s shoots even better than I have described I’ve never tried to max out the yardage and see what kind of grouping it could do at a longer range all I’m stating is that there are plenty of great things about this gun he neglected to point out 🤷🏻

(much head desk. and if you have 25 years experience, you KNOW that's a shoddy design for a hiking gun) My initial intention was actually to machine some proper sight mounts, shorten the magazine tube somewhat, chop and thread for supressor use. Thing is, we're stuck with the "silk purse and a sow's ear" problem, here. I don't think the material quality is adequate for the project
Jack, I was at my LGS on Thursday, July 13, 2023 when a customer purchased the same Rossi Rifle. He noticed the same issue with a loose barrel. The salesman is also a gunsmith and disassembled the rifle to see if the problem could be resolved. The piece that retains the barrel on the frame literally broke into two pieces. I am not sure how this barrel retainer is made, but the crack was stress fracture. It was evident on both sides of the part. From my perspective, this is an indication of lack of quality control in the manufacturing process as well as a failure of any final inspection prior to shipping. The customer left the firearm with the LGS to return to Rossi for either repair or replacement. The information and timing of your video indicates that Rossi has done little or nothing to resolve this problem. Rossi should issue a Notice or a Recall to address this problem. This firearm is a good gun for younger shooters, but I would not recommend any LGS selling this product until Rossi reviews and rectifies the gaps in their in-process and final inspection.
