I had the 702 version of this one a few years ago. Out of the box the barrel was crooked, shot ok with a scope, no go with the iron sights. Contacted Mossberg and they replaced the barrel and gave me 2 extra magazines for the inconvenience. It actually shot better with the new barrel than before. Good customer service, imo...

I really like the amount of detail that you go into for your videos. I purchased this thing a while back ago thinking it was just a cheap plinkster and it is, but it’s also an extremely reliable and well operating rifle and you can’t beat that price. This may not have all the bells and whistles but it’s still a quality firearm. The only thing you didn’t mention, which you’re probably aware of, is the manual bolt hold open that it has. When you pull the charging handle all the way back and then you press it in towards the receiver it will keep the bolt recessed for cleaning or inspection.

Nice. Remarkable accuracy. And THANK YOU for testing the RIFLE's accuracy from a solid rest. So many reviewers test "accuracy" shooting offhand with rifles and pistols. This tells us NOTHING about the accuracy of the GUN. This is one of those "why not" rifles to have. I have a couple extra scopes in my safe looking for a home. I may just have to go pick one of these up.

For anybody coming across this review that might be considering buying one of these. If you want to save yourself the issues of misfeeds and have proper gun operation from the start follow the manual that comes with the rifle. It tells you to basically clean off the oil in and on the rifle, clean the barrel, and lubricate it with actual gun oil. If you really want to, take it apart and just wipe it off and give it a CLP treatment and it should be good to go. The oil they coat it with is to prevent rust, much like a brake rotor, but it is very sticky and not very lubricating. Trust me, it's worth the 20 minutes. I use Gun grease on the bolt and slide surfaces (Mil-Comm TW25B) and light gun oil on the trigger andhammer springs and pivots as well as the striker. If you are going to be using it in cold weather, skip the grease and use straight gun oil.
@OddBallPerformance
@OddBallPerformance 3 года назад
@@chadhaire1711 On the springs and pins they pivot on. These locations are recommended for lubrication with a light oil by the manufacturer in the manual it comes with. Who's the idiot? Thanks, have a nice day. (Try reading harder next time.)

The instant that I saw the font of the Rossi name on the receiver, I felt I knew that it was made at the same factory as was the Mossberg 702 Plinkster. That it takes the 'Plinkster' magazine also confirms this. The Mossberg 702 is a good little rifle and I enjoy shooting with it. This Rossi RS22 should be a fun rifle as well.

I know this video is a few years old, but I just finally bought one for $109.00. I consider myself a flea market collector of 22 rifles. I have everything from an old Glenfield Marlin bolt action that cost a few dollars, Henry's for silhouette shoots, to a Bergara B14R and a bunch of modded out Ruger 10/22's in the $1000's. I love shooting 22's of all kinds. I actually love this little rifle for the money. I have made it my "truck gun". I bought an extra mag, put a cheapie Tasco scope on it, and have a couple of bricks of ammo in the truck. It shoots the same groups that you were shooting. I'm sure Rossi sent a couple that they knew would be accurate, but mine was off the shelf and straight from the store. Best $100 I ever spent on a 22.

Something to look at if you are having failures to feed. I discovered that at the back of the magazine, where the bolt slides in to strip a new cartridge, there was a bit of a "tab" or protrusion in the middle of the slot. I could see from the wear that the bolt was contacting this slightly. I filed it down. While this has not solved all the failure to feed issues, it seems to have made a definite improvement.

Wife just picked one of these up for $199 which isn't bad considering everyone's panic buying. The only difference between the one she bought and the one in your video is that its threaded for a suppressor or flash hider/compensator. I also think the window in the magazine is missing. Haven't hit it yet but I mean its a .22, I dont think I've ever shot an unreliable .22 rifle or pistol, and I've shot some worn out falling apart rifles that still fired every time. In fact I've only had one .22 round in my whole life that didn't fire come to think of it. I've been shooting with other people who had dead rounds, but I personally have got lucky I guess. Anyway, good video! It's a good little gun. I am weary of shooting stingers out of it, chamber walls look a little thin lol.

Found out that from October 25th till the 31st if you reserve the Taurus TH9C for $299.99 through Academy Sports online for November 12th through 18th in store pickup you'll get the Rossi RS22 free.👍 I would post the link but due to RU-vid policy 😞

Asides from the stock and charging handle, this rifle is a Mossberg 702 Plinkster. When I first saw this rifle in May, it sort of explained why walmart clearanced out their 702 plinkster inventory. FYI the 25 Rd magazine is insanely difficult to fit 25 rds in it.

Great little rifle, pack up the 25 rounder, and leave it for a week. It helps with loading and feeding.

This gun seems a bit boring - If I was going with a cheaper 22 option - I think I would recommend the Marlin 60 it has history and character. If you prefer a magazine option go with the Marlin 795. If you have more money that you need to spend go with the Ruger 10/22.

Fman1292 - have you ever shoot a Marlin? They are freakishly accurate, made in Merica, and about the same price when bought on sale. (Maybe few bucks more)

Looks like CBC of Brasil makes this for Rossi and the Plinkster for Mossberg. So do you like "Chevy" or "Buick"? Same Assembly line for both, and CBC is doing the same thing. But this Rossi looks a little more "Adult" to me. I like the Cheek Rises and the fatter forend. Thanks again and Take Care.

@@barryfields2964 I picked up a 702 from Walmart for around $120. Decent little rifle but seems to be prone to stovepipes, especially when rapid firing.

I really enjoy shooting my RS22, I bought two 25 Round mags for it, they work flawlessly in my gun, along with the factory 10 round. I bought sling and a limbsaver for it, I have long arms, needed the extra 1/2'', but otherwise the gun is perfect, easy to disassemble and reassemble, the Iron sights are great, even though I did add a scope, 1000 rounds and zero problems, it eats every type of ammo I have feed it, Just can't agree more with scootchOO more, Great gun.
@roschelledavis1933

What 25 round magazines work in it?
@scottgraham1153
@scottgraham1153 4 года назад
@@roschelledavis1933 Mossberg 702 plinkster, and RS22 are basically the same gun just a different stock, so you can use the same mags. both of my 25 rnd mags work flawlessly. If you get the mags I recommend using the speed loaders or they get hard to load after 15-20 rounds.

I've seen them for slightly under $100. Nice little gun for that kind of money. I bought my first new 22 semiauto in 1969 for $41. In today's dollars the Rossi would have sold for $14 new in 1969. That's one heck of a bargain.

Yes, this has been a great little gun for $99. Did not have a lot of luck with the MB 702x25 mags. Hard to load past 22-23 rounds, top round (#25) initial feed problem, and internal mag spring catches around 12 or 13. Got 6 mags, all similar probs. Clean & oil, a little better. Still, great gun.

Just bought one just like the black one yesterday,put a scope on it and shot it.it would not shoot cci ammo it jammed and would not shoot any but it shot Remington lightning 40 grain ammo with no problems,do not know why cci jams with it but I'm not a gunsmith.but it shot great and at 25 yards just like him with one of my bipods on it I shot the center of the bulleyes out with 5 to 8 shots no problem,just glad I bought 1000 rounds of Remington lighting 22lr shells.and just like him my scope was to low so I was lucky I had a set of extra high 22 dovetail scope mounts to clear the back sights,love the gun super light be great for plenking and squirrel hunting to just make sure you you have extras I'm different ammo makes!!!!!
