Took my 13 yr old grandson to the range today so that he could use his brand new Ruger 10/22 (black synthetic stock model) he got for Christmas. Once he got used to the sights, he was hitting the swinging steel target 65 yards away, using my range bag for support. The 70º weather on a Christmas day in Kentucky certainly made for an enjoyable time at the range.

You, sir, are describing what NORMAL life is like and how great it is in the "REAL" world out here in what Left Coast and Right Coast elitists call "Fly-over country." It's sad that they not only miss out on these special experiences of life, like you and your grandson had this Christmas, but that they also want to extinguish our great way of life. We have to continually resist their Totalitarian desires for control.

My first rifle was the 10/22. Back in 1982 it cost me around $80. It still looks brand new and shoots great! I bought it in a Central California hardware store. “Paint, light bulbs, screwdrivers, and.....here we are GUNS!” Things have certainly changed on the left coast and across the country since then.

I've had my Ruger 10/22 Target since I was 14, owned it for 14 years, probably shot 10,000 rounds through it. Such a great, accurate, CHEAP (ammo) gun to shoot for endless hours. Might be the smallest caliber on the rifle line, but I always have people checking it out at the range asking if they should get one.

There are many positive qualities for having your Ruger 10/22 with a larger capacity magazine for general home defense. Dependable high capacity close in hit power. Mine is ready over the fireplace.
@MeltWithU
@MeltWithU 2 года назад
Glad I’m not the only one. I would rather fire 25 accurate 22 LR rounds than 10 9 mm rounds where only one or two connect. In a high stress, random situation, you generally don’t have time to aim too well. Which is where the 22s come in. You can hip fire a 22 and still hit somebody pretty squarely. So many people think that 22 LR is horrible for self-defense. I actually think it’s a great weapon to have for self defense. It may take a few bullets to stop somebody, but you pretty much know that those bullets are always going to hit. I’ll take accuracy over ammunition size any day. And, if the situation requires it… I have my Mosburg 224 Olympic AR not too far away.

The laws are passed by a few that effect many I think its about control and power, both of which in the wrong hands (those passing the laws) with the right motive protecting the public dont understand the public need the right and the ability to protect themselves and the freedom to flourish. I’ve owned a couple of Ruger 10/22’s growing up. Great gun & always fun to shoot. I always used the medal lip magazines & never had an issue. The plastic lipped mags always had feeding problems. I never used lead heads only copper jacketed bullets mostly CCI. Everyone at some point should own a Ruger 22 just for the fun. Over the years I’ve collected other 22’s that are also fun & great guns. Enjoy all of his videos & his sense of humor. Enjoy shooting & be safe.

@@cutwormsmith He is right though the Marlin 795/60/70 is more accurate in stock configuration than any Ruger 10/22 in stock configuration would be. But there is alot of aftermarket support for 10/22 and not too much for the Marlins, so you can easily turn the 10/22 into something much better than both.

@rcWizzard
@rcWizzard 10 лет назад
I'm not familiar with the 10-22, it looks like (sounds like) after the last round is fired the bolt does not remain open, and allows you to dry-fire after the last round? Not good on a rim fire gun, am I correct??? I really enjoy all your vid's.

@zacharysmith943

The 10/22 manual specifically says it won't be harmed by dry firing, and even recommends it for familiarity with the rifle. It is unusual in this regard, as dry firing will damage most rimfire weapons.

@hickok45

No, I take off Christmas day. :-) I actually do not shoot as much as it appears in the videos. If somebody goes through and watches 10 videos, I think the impression is left that all I do is shoot. I might go three or four days without shooting anything. Then I begin to get the "Withdrawal Shakes" and have to quickly grab a gun and run outside. :-)
