I have the same model. The preview shape UK made versions seemed better built; higher grade of plastic, and least it felt sturdier and less flimsy. Time will tell, although these new one are very quiet, still nice mowers.

Wonderful! Yes, RCDs really are life savers. They are amazing little devices, so simple and inexpensive. They have been a requirement of UK socket installations since the early 90s and are now required on almost all circuits.

My 11 year old Bosch Rotak 34 lawn mower died a few weeks ago, from new it had a habit of cutting out every few minutes, at first I thought it was me losing my grip due to arthritis , it wasn't, my neighbour has Rotak 36 of similar vintage, theirs does the same. I have just bought a new Rotak 34 , only used it once and that hasn't had the motor cut out, so far Those 2 motors have had a lot of stopping and starting [100 ft x 30ft lawns]

Great video, especially how to sharpen the blade 👍. When I next need a new mower the Rotak will be a strong contender, but hopefully my elderly Atco will last a while yet!

Hello! It was indeed interesting video, as the user of even 2 of these machines (one in my mother’s garden, another - in my private one, yes, we liked this model much :) ) I agree with all your statements in it. One more question - maybe you have you experience and opinion on this topic: Bosh manual has the picture included where the lawnmower has a picture in which the lawnmower without the grass collector is crossed with a cross with exclamation point besides as if one can't cut grass that way - without grass collector. By I do cut grass this way from time to time when I don’t have where to store the cut grass. Do you think lawnmower gets some damage while using it this way ? what type of damage could it be ? or these precautions painted only due to protecting your legs from any stuff that flies out together with cut grass from lawnmower “exhaust pipe”? Thank you in advance for your insights!

I've never tried that. i would think it's a protection thing as these mowers can't half fling stones at some speed!

NOT meant to be used without the grass box - it's a safety thing as stones can be flung out at great speed, but also the underside of the mower will just get clogged and damage the motor over time. My elderly Atco was supplied with a specifically shaped plug which replaces the grass box and is used when mulching cuttings. The shape of it forces the cuttings back through the blades to be chopped more finely and pushes them back into the lawn as fertiliser.
