Absolute mad lad, life saver. Tried getting that bolt out without locking the motor in place first with screwdriver for over a week. Did it in 10 sec after watching this video!
Really appreciate videos like this. A life saver. My mower was running really rough after mowing long grass and the splines have worn away on the blade, it’s a smooth hole. The Corresponding splines on the spindle look very small, if these don’t grip then I might need a new spindle. Do you know if they are replaceable?
Thanks, yer not sure if the spindle is replaceable as never worn one out. I always start looking up the particular spare on Ebay and if available it must be a good. Good luck with it though👍
Found this video while searching for blade change tips for the Bosch Rotak 43. Do you also have electrical competance? My mower is experiencing trouble with getting started. I will sometimes use 5 minutes pushing the buttons and spinning the blade by hand before it finally gets going. Sometimes I hear a sound, like it's trying to start; other times no sound at all. After I get it started, I'm weary of stopping due to the start-up issues. I've got fresh 4.0Ah batteries in it. If you have any tips or suggestions I'd be thankful.
Would you have a idea on how to fix my 37 li lawnmower it was working fine until a blade change and now once it comes into contact with grass it cuts outs and the motor stops
That's weird iant it. Im thinking pop the old one back on and test. Normally the mower cuts out when it gets too much resistance against the blades ie chunks of grass.
Did you buy the mower new or second hand, I am asking because I agree with previous comment, there should be a second bearing cover between blade and housing to protect against debris, spot on about using a screwdriver, I always forget and wonder why there isn't a easier way to undo the bolt, also once you have sharpened the blade, clean it up so it has no dried grass stuck to it, then balance the blade on a rotary blade balancer, £5 from Amazon, otherwise heavy vibrations will ware out the bearings on your motor , which I also got from RU-vid, the bit about cleaning blade before balancing.
Just bought a genuine bosch replacement blade (27/04/2020) for rotak 43, blade came with replacement bolt and washer AND bearing cover in box, old blade will be kept for the 1st three cuts of the year, due to the debris from local trees. the new blade is not razor sharp, it has a thin flat edge to protect itself against debris impact and for longevity, as a razor edge gets mangled real quick. Your ride on mower, is it double bladed? Risk of bent blades, Also is the blade alot thicker metal, because the professional gardener with multiple machines and 3 to 4 blades per mower, will maintain there own gear and use a £100 to £400, balancer jig, once a week, keeping there costs down. Whereas a home owner would be wise to find a good local sharpener who sharpens and balances blade, once a year minimum. My local garden centre has a professional gardener, with a shop for sharpening various tools, when he is in between gardening jobs and by appointment, called bluntbusters, excellent service.
48" deck with three blades. Easy to sharpen with the right tools and zips through the grass. Sharpening blades isnt too difficult and saves on new ones.👍
