Today we drive the rotary shifter go cart on the street! This rotary go kart is powered by a 1975 Hercules W2000 motorcycle and is a complete monster for this small go kart frame! In order to get this thing running and driving again we had to do some serious research to find out how to get the clutch working again. This kart is also rocking the 787b Renown livery of the 1991 Le Mans car. While it doesn't seem like much, it took us hours to get everything up to spec. After it was ready to go, we took it out to some abandoned roads and really let it get up to speed! It was definitely the fastest thing that we have ever driven or created so we were blown away by letting it loose! Thanks for watching and be sure to stay tuned for some more ripping this thing! Build Break Repeat when you say you almost lost your life and laughed it made me watch closely and realize how dangerous it is to be racing this thing . And I really recommend you invest in steering stabilizers if your going to be taking this thing ripping . Awesome job build break repeat !

In most cases on small engines, you'll find you get better power delivery with smoother torque if you put an air filter on it. Not having one on the carby is especially dangerous for a rotary too - it's not like small stones haven't found their way into carbs before.

Please make sure to error on the side of more oil in the fuel, a fouled plug is much cheaper than a rebuild!! I'd like to see a bit of exhaust smoke if I was running it.

It's not the oil it's the jetting, the stock Jets don't like the straight pipe exhaust because more gases are escaping the engine

sounds like you're breaking up long before redline. rotaries need a lot more rpms to get good power.

torvestas sister lol 😂 it doesn’t have a distributor it’s a single rotor that oscillates on a crank, it has a inlet port an exhaust port and not much else it probably uses a cdi unit from a magneto for spark, look up Wankel rotary animation this may help you understand 😂. It would probably run a lot better if the gear ratio was fixed, say if it had 12/60 tooth cog or a 1 to 5 ratio the engine wouldn’t be under so much load and this will allow it to get the revs it needs to produce true rotary power, anything over 4000rpm it will be flying some rotaries rev past 11,000 rpm no worries 😉

@@BESHYSBEES dont try to smartass people if you dont know shit as Well. This engine might have a classic contact breaker ignition System that requires constant adjustment. Especially after being torn apart. This engine Was developed in the late 60's when there was no such thing as a CDI so maybe try less Emojis and more background checks and reading lolol

You would assume it has the right jet size when it's the factory carb though, unless that one's partially clogged up.

Id also say its way too rich... its "four stroking" I as a two stroke guy would say. guess a 0.15mm smaller mainjet would help

The main thing that isn't factory on the engine is the exhaust. Otherwise there isn't too much else that affects fuel ratio. A straight pipe on a gasoline engine will certainly lean an engine out significantly. My vote is for trying bigger jets.

You should trying using a Super Trap muffler on the Sachs. It would give you complete control over the amount of exhaust back pressure on the engine by just adding or subtracting discs on the muffler. Sounded like the DG silencer was overly restricting the exhaust.

No it is just idling super high because we didn’t want to have to deal with push starting it. When the Rpms are low it braps super hard still.

What I did and other`s with that clutch rod design was to put a dab of grease in between ball and rod.And DO NOT push in the clutch and hold it in, at high rpm`s/mph.. The rod,ball and pusher will spin and weld itself together again.

Be careful not to run that lean... you guys ran that flat out without the air filter AND a straight pipe. Consider a more restrictive (quieter) muffler and a proper airbox, or just adjust the fuel mixture and get a jet kit and run larger jetting in it

You don't want torsional stiffness in a shifter kart. They are made to twist in the middle and lift the inside rear tire in a turn.

Well done guys, well done! From the sights and sounds of it I would recomment adding a bit more oil to the fuel and checking the spark plugs electrode colour. The engine sounds like it's running on the lean side. The plugs electrode should be fawn brown to dark brown. If it's brighter, almost beige-ish that means that the engine is running lean.

Hey guys! I do have a suggestion or two about the carb. So idk about carb tuning but i noticed the carb inlet is facing backwards from the direction you're driving and the air rushing by could be causing a small air vacuum and be slowing down the air getting sucked in by the engine. You could kind of compare that effect to a draft tube which was used on cars pre 1960's. It was a tube from the engine crankcase that went a short ways under the car and driving created an vacuum on the rear facing tube and that ventilated the crank case. So what I would suggest other than a high flow cone air filter, would be to try to mount the carb 180 degrees different to face the incoming air flow or second best and easier option would be to put a U shaped elbow on the carb inlet to make an air filter face forward.

I run a Hercules W2000 all the time with this motor its brilliant, sounds good to me, btw 20:1 oil in fuel, great rotary bonkers engine, yea your right the exhaust glows at night, had to have mine ceramic coated like formula 1 cars do its the only black finish that survives

Awesome guys, i would put a wideband sensor to adjust the jetting and then go to a dyno, in that order. there would be a lot of dyno s in US. If in we have in Argentina, you would have ten times more... And then go to a kart circuit to enjoy the best. Saludos Hernán.

Mid-Night SRC Productions It is a rotary motor but it’s a really early one, so it only revs to like 7k rpms. The technology got way better in the 90s but this was the first motorcycle that had it.

Build Break Repeat if your gonna add a speedo, you should definitely consider a tach and something that measure EGT. This is the safest way to now how close you are to the engines limits.

BMW can be quite unreliable..... Blanket statements about automobile are no longer true. All manufactures try to get the most out of their vehicles and spend the least. Even if it means that their customers get screwed. They will only take action if they are forced. Research and see that I am completely correct on this.

@@zetto_san-ichi4824 this should not offend but the German Sachs engines like the kart are already reliable. Perhaps the shit of Matzda from Japan is not so good, but the workmanship of Sachs already. They also build very good 2 clocks.

Cross Rider I’m sad that you feel that way about Mazda and Japanese engineering but if you look how rotary engines work they will wear down and will have to be rebuilt also just because someone makes a good 2 stroke piston engine doesn’t mean they can perfect a rotary Mazda made amazing piston engines and only just perfected it this year you obviously don’t know much about rotaries I’ve owned a couple rotaries in my lifetime and always had to rebuild them eventually fine by me they’re great for power with small displacement but they for sure aren’t reliable
