Anthem MRX 1140 matches the processing prowess (ARC) of the 1580, with 11 channels amplified, at $4k. Any more change, and the better option is to go for seperates (Anthem AVM 90 with two of the gorgeous Mc multi-channel amps would be my choice, if I had the spare change). Thanks Shane.
@@BrianGarside yes 9 channels ,so you could have at least 2 atmos speakers hooked up with out having to buy an external amp...you could go for 5.1.4. or 7.1.2. ,or just go for something like Marantz SR8015 ,11 channel AVR , for a grand less.
I have the 1580 MK2. Great sound. Dirac makes it even better. Very musical indeed (for a “receiver”). Had some issues with software updates and screen going completely white or black. So will have to return it in for servicing for the second time (under warranty). My NAD T578v3 before had more software issues and sounded less good. Once they get the root cause of the screen and updates failing to install fixed, it will be an absolute beast of a music and movie receiver.
The Rotel 1580 MKII has many bugs, such as HDMI dropouts, sporadic audio dropouts, decoder pops and poor operational stability. It is not for nothing that Rotel has removed the Rotel 1576 MK II and the AV integrated amplifier 1580 MKII from the range. You should communicate this to the outside world and not just promote the device. I cannot recommend the device!!!
Mr. Shang Lee, or anyone that may know the answer; on the displays I’ve seen of the RAP1580mkii, I noticed that in many photos, there is a colored icon for dtsX. On my unit, I don’t have that. On my unit, there is only a black and white. Is there actually a way to go into the settings to get that option, or was that only for marketing?
According to one of the langer German custom installers, although sounding great, the product still with the current firmware 3.08 seems to have many bug issues. No 4k/HDR with many Sources when used with JVC projectors, ARC function buggy, speaker level/distance adjustments for finetuning do not work once Dirac is used, the trigger outputs dont work propely
The rsp-1576mkii is certainly buggy but gotten a lot better recently. Annoyingly 3.08 has reintroduced a bug where the unit won't turn on from standby unless in "quick" mode. In the UK this option isn't available so I had to change the units mode to ROW mode to activate it. I still have issues with ARC popping, crackling and syncing as well as other issues with audio delay. But on whole it sounds great to me. Will be interesting to get the review on that unit too.
Dirac, if two subs are used in pre out sub 1 and sub 2, how are subs independently level matched, time aligned for best positive summation and mains integration?
Hi Shane, another good review. I have a- Zappiti question, seeing your player in this review. When I finally connected my Reference to my Anthem MRX11440, the HDMI audio from the main output only passed a stereo signal, no multichannel. I queried Raphael via Skype, no response. So I found that setting the HDMI output to raw yields a multichannel output. But does not always stay on raw, have had to go back in and set it to raw again. Your thoughts. Keep up the good work.
Hey Shane do you recommend the Rotel over typical D/M, Yamaha, pioneer models etc for sound quality/ surround sound performance. There is something quite appealing about it. I’m aware that there have been firmware bugs but same applies to Arcam etc
The Rotel 1580MKII is the best AV amplifier on the market. Compared to the Denon AVC 8500 and 110, it sounds much more detailed, more precise and it differentiates the action scenes much better. The Denon's are not good, just marketing. I had the opportunity to compare all amplifiers with each other.
Hey Shane fastfood here from netherlands i have a current setup of a pairs of r11s from kef a 2c center and a pairs of r3 whit a subwoofer from rel the s812 connected to the highlevel output on the marantz sr7013 souround reciever i am very curious about the rotel but is it very complicated to setup by dirac and how is it whit the highlevel input from the rel and have he enough power to feed al channels on high level ore would you recommend a other reciever for my system setup
I have the Rotel as well and a REL S/510 and live in the Netherlands. PM me if you like to exchange some experiences. And no, Dirac is very easy to setup and sounds great.
What about the image?? I'm planning to buy one but I want to connect the sources to the avr and from then to the projector. I'm worried the avr won't allow things like dolby vision...
