AMAZING Custom HOME THEATER TOUR 2023 - 4K Dolby Atmos 160" !! DUAL SUBWOOFERS | Epson 1006 | KEF THX
This amazing client was all about the look of the room. Equally or more important than the system itself. Wanted to be in one of those wow rooms so we did just that. Full lighting and acoustics. Much much more. The budget was balanced with his requests and things that were important to him first. The system is very close to the KEF Music Lounge in New Jersey. Just 5160 instead of the Ref line on the front 3. This is a before and after video showing where we started and we ended up. This is one of the most beautiful Theaters in the US complete with a full RGB LED lighting package for both puck or can lights as well as Columns. Columns change colors through Control4 Automation. Full Custom Home theater Dallas, TX. Room Acoustics with full design by acoustician. Room all is 20x20 or so. Full Star Ceiling. Dolby Atmos 7.2.4 Home Theater finished in 2023. 160" Acoustically transparent Screen and Dual Subwoofers.

@TheaterAdvice_FCAV

Nothing is wrong with it. It's a 7706 though. Full equipment list is in the description though. What I was saying is that people use the Marantz HDMI boards in their processors so I just used one here to cut cost there that I thought would have little effect. As opposed to using a $20K processor the client wouldn't know the difference in.

Amazing room!! I've watched a number of your videos and the explanations of why you do what you do make sense ( love the TV quick calibration ). I don't want to be like some of the idiot trolls that make some of their comments but there is something I've noticed that is driving me crazy. The Atmos in ceiling speakers always seem to be down firing and that is robbing a great deal of the Atmos experience. Obviously you can't do everything in every room but aiming all the speakers at the money seat is critical and you even said that you have to have that centered seat ( exactly correct and that's where everything aims ). Staying as close as you can to the Dolby angles and measurements ( not the diagrams as those are quite misleading ) will raise the Atmos effectiveness and enjoyment exponentially. Things like in John Wick 3 where the knife throw spins past your left side from front to back until you hear it hit the back wall and in the Ready Player One initial road course run and he hits something wooden and the splinters fly all around on your left and above you in the middle of the air around you ( the first time you'll look up it's so well executed ). And when someone is spending 200K at least get those heights aimed at the money seat. No, your customer won't know the difference, of course unless he happens to experience someone's theater that does all that correctly. Anyway, I love all that I've seen you do and offer, plus all the great gear you carry. I live in Arlington and need to come and have a listen to the Kanta center speaker and find out what I'm missing as I am using an Aria cc900 with my Kanta 2's. The Kanta's are for music listening with my Musical Fidelity M8 Encore 500 as my room is a combo music / theater situation. So, I'd like to get an idea what a full Kanta front end is like.
@TheaterAdvice_FCAV
@TheaterAdvice_FCAV 9 месяцев назад
There is a reason. Dolby atmos at inception wants “direct firing speakers” even the true Dolby atmos theaters (I was in the first one ever with Dolby labs designers present watching the hobbit” even those have ALL the speakers aiming down. When something is over head it’s not aiming it’s sound at you. It’s right above. The point of atmos is atmospheric realism not audio perfection. They are supposed to aim down and have good dispersion. Hope that helps
@robertwilliams1215
@robertwilliams1215 9 месяцев назад
I respect the fact you've been to the Dolby Labs and to part of what your saying but full on theaters and home theaters are in no way designed or intended to relay the "presentation" in the same way. Why does Dolby go to the trouble of giving exact specs ( angles and measurements to the inch ) for a "Home Theater" situation that is in no way even close to how a "commercial theater" is designed? Why do ( some ) movies get remixed specifically for the "home" environment? And there is a very wide range in quality of the Atmos and DTS:X mixes. Why do Focal and other companies who care about the correct "Home" environment sell angled speakers ( I know you know and sell the Focal 300 ICA6 ), and they aren't just for ceiling LCR, c'mon man!! You just know the customer will never know the difference and it's not worth the trouble for your techs to go through the time to do it to "specs" and I GET THAT 100%, that's a business decision. For people who want to eek out ( or geek out. lol ) every ounce of the capability and design of the expensive equipment they are paying for will be well rewarded to go to the trouble of doing it to Dolby specs. WELL REWARDED!!! Also, there is no "money seat " in an actual theater., so they don't worry about angles in such an enviorment. Now, I've never been in a well calibrated commercial "Dolby Theater", they all suck in different ways. Hopefully someone calibrated them correctly at some point but someone must jack with them. I'll come and have a listen to those Down firing speakers and see what it sounds like and HONESTLY compare it to what I hear in my room and will bow to your expertise and post for all to know it if I'm wrong. And let me confirm I absolutely LOVE the awesomeness of the rooms you create , it is an art and takes a great deal of planning and work, that's why you get the awards ( and the $$$$ ). Most definitely kudos to you, it is more than well deserved! @@TheaterAdvice_FCAV

www.dolby.com/about/support/guide/speaker-setup-guides/5.1.2-overhead-speaker-setup-guide/ Direct firing downward 30 degrees front of ear. This is for home theater not commercial. You can do what you want of course...if it sounds better to you to angle them toward seating by all means do it. I believe AV is more opinion than fact always. But ALL speakers direct firing is what they recommend and designed and recorded for. Got rid of Bipole dipole sides for the same reasons. Every document from Dolby labs is down firing. finding a speaker like KEF with super wide dispersion is best overall. Many others though that do that.

Interesting you went with the Epson 1006. I just looked up the prices and now I am seriously debating going with the same one for my living room setup over a normal LS12000. Oh if it's in the budget...it's 100% amazing. But the 1006 if you are buying from an authorized dealer will be and shouldbe $8000 or more with a lens. It does not come with one. But worth it. And please buy authorized. And you will get great contrast using a screen like that with 6000lm. Enjoy

I don't know of it's the weird perspective of the camera, but why does it look like the seats are way too far from the screen? Seems about like viewing a 55'' TV at ten to twelve feet in a living room, which is way too far. No offense, but I get a more "theater like" field of view with my 77'' TV at six and a half feet. Form over function I guess.

Wide angle lens. I'ts a 160" screen and the chairs are 13' back. Plenty large and immersive. So no it's not like a 55". everything we do is calculated and perfect.

Hi, i am Sivakumar From india and plan to buy Epson LS12000B & Elite 2.35:1 Curved Screen. My Room Size is 20ft (W) x17.5(L) x9.5(H) After See all your videos change my plan to Epson EB-PU-1006B (The price is half as compare to usa ) & Screen Innovations 160inch Slate 1.2 .Zero Edge. The dealer here told Epson EB-PU-1006B is a business projector not a home theatre projector. Please Can U Explain why u love Epson EB-PU-1006B more than Epson LS-12000 in all your higher end projects😍😀😍 Whats the distance between screen to recliners in this video ???

DO NOT buy a curved screen. Curved screens are to fix an issue caused by an anamorphic lens called Pincusion effet. If you don't have one of those lenses you gain nothing from a curved screen. Flat screen. The slate of course is amazing. I can ship them to you as well as long as we do Bank Transfer. Correct it's a commercial projector...so what. Still better. 6000 lumens is better is why I use it. ESP on a huge screen. You're on the right path.

Sir does sony vpl 7000es have optical zoom option using that can we increase the image size from 150 to 180inch for a big screen experience in our home theater considering that it has a 3200lumens output . What is your opinion
@TheaterAdvice_FCAV

It does have that option. But will need to be far away to hit that size.

Parasound has not made an audio video processor in over a decade. [P/SP-1500 AV Processor/Preamplifier]. Any system over $15k and longer room needs front wides. Nothing can improve over front wides in 9.x.x bedlayer; not treatment or DSP can do what a good front wide could 3 feet or closer to the seating aisle.
@TheaterAdvice_FCAV
@TheaterAdvice_FCAV 9 месяцев назад
Yes Parasound has not. I use their amps...I don't care about their processing. All they had to do is buy Marantz HDMI boards and wouldn't. their amp is still best bang for the buck out there. Good dispersement speakers don't need any front wides...even commercial theaters don't have that. But as long as they aren't too close I always say the more the marrier.

Epson LS12000 has 8.3 million pixels, EB-PU-1006 has 4.6 million pixels. LS12000 can do 4K/120Hz, EB-PU -1006 can do 4K/60 Hz.,Explain why cant u not go for ATI AT-543 Amp over Parasound A31 inthis project. Whats the distance between screen to recliners in this video ???

I can go for any amp. I love Parasound...great value for high end amp. Both Epsons have the same pixels they just do the 4K Eshift differently. I don't notice it. Brightness wins. It's truly spectacular. Under 3000 lumens vs 6000 lumens is my explanation. For those that want their projector to look like a tv it wins. I own an LS12000...Love it too.

Won’t they get a headache sitting that close to such a large screen?
@TheaterAdvice_FCAV
@TheaterAdvice_FCAV 9 месяцев назад
Uh...no. Even the most extreme sized home theaters almost never encroach what a commercial theater screen ratio is to seating in the middle seats. The bigger the better. If you have a home theater...put a theater in your home.

I can't get behind 207,000 dollar theater having KEF speakers, small low performance subs and a Marantz AVR. This room deserved some higher tier kit such as Perlisten S series speakers with a Trinnov. I know you cited the quality of life issues of the boutique processors but its up to the integrator to make them work seemlessly - not just provide kit which is easier for your job but has lesser quality,. Even the PJ is a strange one - the room isn't big the screen isn't that massive. a higher contrast NZ9 projector would have been the obvious choice. The decor and aesthetic is stunning but the level of kit in this room is not matching the budget IMO.
@TheaterAdvice_FCAV
@TheaterAdvice_FCAV 3 месяца назад
The client wanted the KEF speakers that were at their experience center in NJ. So since it's not your money..and you didn't design the system...your opinion doesn't matter. It was an itemized bid with every aspect spelled out. It's an $80K system....that's what it costs. It's math..not an opinion. He wanted the aesthetic. He's also blissfully happy with the result. If he had more budget we could have gone harder on AV...pretty simple. and I don't care about those processors at all. You read too many blogs...lol. I live and breath this stuff. I know what's worth the money and what's not. So thanks for your opinion...I guess. lol

I like MY $1K movie room A MILE better than your design: Why soo much complicated lighting? When the movie is on, NOBODY will see all that decoration. The main thing they see is the SCREEN. Why such a small screen, and not go from wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling? I have a 2K Optoma GT1080: Throw Ratio: 0.50, fills THE WHOLE WHITE WALL, 220", and 2 professional grade loudspeakers, and the seats placed so it's a 90 degree angle from left to right, almost like IMAX. Super-happy with my design. And yours costs 200 TIMES as much? And only 5 seats?
@TheaterAdvice_FCAV
@TheaterAdvice_FCAV 9 месяцев назад
Sounds like you should totally sell systems and start a ch. You have it all figured out. I am sure your $1K system is awesome when I wouldn't even own a $1K center ch. 😂. Phew. The keyboard warriors are out today. lmao !!

Almost like IMAX? You're exposing yourself to great criticism. It's great that you love your system as that's what matters but if you experienced a system like this you'd know why people drop the cash. And people with the cash like playing with all the "decoration", it's part of the experience. I don't have all that stuff but I sure can appreciate it!!

No, I'm such a cheapskate, I would go bankrupt on the first day! But my movie party people do agree that they like my "home IMAX" better than the theatre experience. By the way, I root for you to win the competition, I think Home Projector theatre is way underrated these days, at ANY price. A projector is always better than a "big"screen TV.
@TheaterAdvice_FCAV
@TheaterAdvice_FCAV 9 месяцев назад
We agree there. I actually personally sell more projectors in a year than any other company. I am Epsons top dealer. I am all about projection.
