Fun fact: costco chicken is known as a "loss leader" meaning that they pay more for the product/preperation than they make from selling a chicken, but the profit they make from "upsales" as in people purchase other things when coming just for a chicken that it makes it worth the "loss" in revenue
You are one of those doodoos at the party who tells someone that they are wrong calling peanut a nut and then tells everyone about his gluten allergy which is proven to be fake 😂 always a smart S and always DeLuSiOnal 🙌
He goes over a few ingredients towards the end so it's: - The chicken + whatever congealed juices are left in the container - 8 cups of stock (could probably use water and just throw in a stock cube if ur feeling extra lazy) - 1 cup of oats - a few slices of ginger - salt to taste Then just top it off with whatever condiments you have: chili-garlic oil, hot sauce, maggi seasoning, thinly sliced green onions or chives, kimchi, etc.
About a bowl of meat- could be left over. Could be raw/seasoned About a 1” section of ginger, sliced into about 6 slices 1 cup of raw rice 8-10 cups of water/broth Pinch of salt & white pepper
Take the meat off the chicken. Use the chicken carcass/bones/skin/whatever is on the bottom of the package to make stock, then use that stock. 8 parts stock to 1 part rice (or oats). Optionally add ginger. Boil until the rice/oats break apart, roughly 30-60 minutes, to desired thickness. Salt to taste. Top with chicken or any garnish you desire.
Thank you for doing it with oats - I’ve been doing breakfast jook like that for awhile (ie. bacon, fried egg, julienned ginger and scallions) and people acted like I was insane
Love that he just wants food, easy and in bulk for the rest of the week. That’s me making some kind of easy soup for lunch for the rest of the week. I’ll try his recipe this week. And it’s cheap!
In Australia, we call it a 'bachelor's handbag' it's literally in the Macquarie dictionary 😁 It's a brilliant shortcut. I used them to add to canned cream of chicken soup 🍲 and it low effort comfort food especially when you're sick. I love your recipe, I'm going to try it next time.
I take off the drumsticks, breasts and wingettes & pack them up for other meals, then I take the rest of the carcass & thighs (which are usually slightly bloody) & make a broth. Into a pot of water I add several cloves of garlic, hunks of ginger and the carcass & thighs. Boil for an hour or so. Separate the bones from the meat & throw away if you want chicken soup add some carrots & celery. If you want congee rinse a cup of uncooked rice, put into broth & boil until rice blooms and breaks down into a creamy congee. Sometimes I also add lentils, & quinoa. At the end slice up 2 thousand year old eggs and mix into congee. 😋
Just want to point out I noticed the spice box/masala dubha. My household is Indian+Chinese so we also hold traditionally east Asian spices in our masala dubha because that's what we cook more.
“Always guaranteeing a good time but at the same time you wouldn’t introduce them to your friends [and family]” Costco rotisserie chicken is literally me fr fr 😂😂
Am I making something fancy with this rotisserie chicken? No. Am I just going to eat this rotisserie chicken whole and unaccompanied in the middle of my living room? Yes. Why? I am a single, not-even-young-anymore person with rotisserie chicken pennies. It's what happens.
i just want to say thank you for pointing out the recyclable packaging, and for rinsing it out first. My housemate always tries to stuff it in the recycling dripping with carcass juice. refuse to wash that shit 😒
Chicken carcasses are such an underrated ingredient. Inspired by Hainanese Chicken Rice, I cooked glutinous rice with chicken stock after finishing with roast; goodness, that rice was yummy 😋
I just learned any black plastic isn't recyclable because the sensors at the plants won't detect them and they get moved along with the unrecyclables...
Yay you are also coming off as a little easier and slightly less glamorous. I like it! Sometimes you seem like a bit of a snob, and I get that cuz I'm a food snob too, but I do like the slightly more easy going you. PS the cons you was Fab! I use Walmart rotisserie cuz that's my favorite put the rest was beautiful
Am I in love with this guy? Yes… Am I totally aware of the impossibility of meeting him? Also yes… Am I sure there are millions of guys thinking exactly the same thing as I am right now? Also yes again… hahahahahahahaha it’s ok… at least we all have his videos to watch and dream…
I cook like that as well. I get comments from people, like how can you eat the same thing multiple days in a row. I just make dishes you can warm up and change up. For example, I made chicken soup with alot of vegetables and the whole bird. You can add barley, rice, beans, lentils, noodles, matzo balls, etc.I organize my pantry, fridge, and freezer the same way. You should never buy ingredients for one dish. You should organize your life around many meals.
Suck and just made some spicy chicken and rice soup from a Sam's rotisserie chicken. Cleared up my sinuses and the rich bone broth will help me recover.
