Just an absolute perfect evening for flying! Dead wind, giving smooth glassy waters on the river for a nice mirror effect. Had a wing man of Andrew S in his R22. We stopped along the river for a few photos with the river behind us in the setting sun. Don't recommend this type of flying to anybody. I know this river like the back of my hand.

Jim awesome video! Can’t wait to come out in October for the gathering. This is my favorite area to fly over.

I'm one of those folks who prefers engine and wind noise along with the occasional pilot chatter over an annoying soundtrack! Keep 'em coming Jim.

3:10 I prefer the engine and ambient sounds. Just keep on talking Jim! I don't mind at all.

Awesome video!!! I’m thinking about getting a Rotorway it’s a 1999 with 403 hrs has all engine and airframe logs. They are asking $55,000. Any thoughts on this as whether it’s a good buy or not. I’ve heard alot of pros and cons on Rotorway .

I've sent you a "friend" request on FB. I see you're NC area, so this will be helpful for you in may monarchfield.org/ It all depends on the ship, and how long it's been sitting and why! Some mods needed to the old ships, but by now a lot of them have been completed.

Why do a pure vertical climb when there is absolutely no operational need to do that? It appears there was plenty of room to do a safe take off. An engine failure after a minute of so after takeoff would probably turn that Rotaway into scrap metal.

That is a true statement sir! However, I have no idea what you are talking about, or what video you watched! :) After lift I really didn't ever get above 10 feet until we left the river and climb out was gradual at about 85 mph! I've not watched the full video I'll go try to see what you're talking about. Thanks for watching!

@@captianhardy Even if you had done a "pure vertical climb for 2 minutes after take-off {followed by engine failure}" couldn't you have simply done an auto-rotate to a safe landing?
@captianhardy

@@UltimateAnarchy If I had at least 500 feet agl, yes, I could recover from an engine failure. Just outside the "Dead man's curve" on the Height/velocity chart

@@captianhardy That's what I figured. Thanks!
