Hi folks! It's Shenuka with a tutorial using K-pop... something dear to my heart :')
This is a breakdown of how I made a little animation clip of the choreography for DNA by BTS using rotoscoping techniques in Blender 2.8's Grease Pencil, with a bit of effects animation thrown in!

How does the video play when you drag the timeline and make new keyframes? I am confused about the initial set up. Also, as a fan of BTS and animations, this looks brilliant, I'm sure it would have taken ages for you to do.

Is it possible to lower the opacity of the sketch layer when doing the line art? Or should we just use grey pencil for the sketch? Great video btw

Yes it's possible to lower the opacity of the layers :) go into Materials, and under stroke there should be an alpha value to adjust.

Yes, this had to be done frame by frame! But Blender now has auto-fill added as a feature :')

In the world setting, red globe icon, under surface (you could also put a large plane behind everything and ignore the world setting as long as the world doesn't influence the lighting of grease pencil objects)

Go to the world editor in the properties editor (the earth icon) and you can change the background colour of the whole scene from there🙂

Hey, to draw and image and not have it stay for the next frame you can turn off Additive Drawing (the snowflake icon) on the top let of the viewport. If you want to make it fade away slowly, then you can use the opacity modifier like @Julio Sardinha mentioned :)

To import an image as a plane first apply the addon in your Preferences. Go to Edit > Preferences > Addons tab > type "images" in the search bar and tick the box for "Import-Export": Import Images as Planes. Now in Object Mode you can use ShiftA > Image > Image as Plane and import your picture mapped onto a plane surface. To get rid of it just delete the object.

Yes, it is animated on frames, but sometimes the spacing will be in 2s instead of 1s for timing :)

I'm having this problem; after I import an image in Object-mode and try to draw / trace it in the Drawing-mode I can't draw any strokes. How can I solve this problem?

It might be because your image is in front of the grease pencil layer. Try going back to Object mode and moving the Image plane backward on the Y-axis? Or bring the GP layer forward :) Let us know how it goes!

@@TeamMiracles ok, I just did this now, and apparently I can draw now but the Draw tool (pencil above the bucket tool) is making very thin strokes without their texture effects, like ink, airbrush, marker, and some of them disappear when I drew them, like the F ink pen, pencils and the pen. :(
