This is a typical problem with outside doors if not painted often enough.
This will work for windows, pillar, wood window shades, or just about anything outside or inside
Rock hard putty is by far my favorite for this kind of repair, I have yet to find another one that comes close.

That’s a good temporary fix, but water exposure will make water putty break down over time

Why? Just cut it out and replace it. Seal it. Change the brick mold to PVC, caulk and move on.

Check the product, not for use outdoors. Interior use only. Call the number on the can.

I tried it under eaves as a filler but not in direct sunlight. Then I finished it off with PC Woody. Only time will tell but a nice experiment.

I was going to use Bondo but it's so messy and gooey. Did you use a wood petrifier to harden rotted wood?

TRY masking the weather strip and kick plate on the threshold to keep it clean, And use AUTO PUTTY its water proof and drys quick.

Will this handle the weather well? will rain and moisture cause it to break down?

at least cut the bottom out and puzzle in a new piece of wood. that repair may last 2 months.

You need to stop the water from getting in before you can do the jamb. This is a horrible fix...will fail again shortly if you just cover up.

Messy job. Please tape the aluminum plate first and use qualified material to fill. You are missing guiding people.

Easiest fix is to cut it out, change the bottom 2 foot or however much you cut to PVC and then seal it up. Won't have the issue anymore.
