This is two days in a row where it ends before judgement. WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON!?!?

Change the name from Rotten Renting to Rotten Ending. oh wait, there IS NO ENDING because you cut it off!

The judge seemed to have a really 'stank' attitude towards the plaintiffs which made her appear biased and unprofessional.

Both sides were awarded money. The plaintiff was a little bit ahead because of the utilities. The defendant got $300 for damage. I don't remember how much the plaintiff got

So happy to hear JM is starting her own show in the fall...but if ya'll are still going to try to keep this channel up and running PLEASE stop cutting the videos short. You will lose fans :(

Judge, there is a HUGE difference between renting out a basement with your full knowledge, versus somebody else, a STRANGER, living off your utilities (your money) with no knowledge and no agreement! I think that's the point she's not getting. They were living off their money. Using their utilities without their knowledge or agreement. A stranger! If I was the plaintiff, I would have really pointed that out, because I don't think the judge was understanding the difference. She's acting like it's the exact same thing, and it's not. In one case, you are choosing to rent out the basement (including utilities), and then you are getting that money. So you're actually making money off the rent. In the other case, you have somebody sponging off of you without your knowledge. It's a big difference. HOW could they come to court without proof or the utilities they paid??? ALL the utilities. You are the one going to court; you can subpoena her records.

What the heck is going on. How did this one end. Jeez

This is ridiculous People's Court. This is the second one you've cut off. How do you expect people to go on with their lives without knowing how this ended?

They plaintiffs did NOT do the exact same thing as the defendant did when they rented out the basement. The difference is that they were not informed that anyone would be living in the house AND use their utilities, while everything was out in the open when they rented it out.

I don’t think the judge was empathetic enough to the plaintiffs. I would be mortified if I thought I was living alone and all of a sudden find out a young male is living in the house with me. It doesn’t matter if they decided to rent it out on their own a year later. They then had control over who they rented it out to. That’s MUCH different then having a secret squatter hiding in your home!

they ALWAYS conjure up "damages" when they've either spent a deposit or don't want to pay what they're being sued for, and it's always for dumb silly "damages". Gotta hand it to landlords, always predictable.

I regret watching this video, as it ends without resolution, the end is cut off, and I could have simply done anything else, than wind up aggravated and disappointed, this video was a bad experience. I hope that going forward they'll fix the issue, as well as re-upload the complete case.

I have no idea how she ruled, although I'm guessing she ruled for the defendant, but I just came here to say this: The plaintiffs' problem wasn't that the defendant was down there, it was that they didn't _know_ she was there. They were essentially paying the utilities for two families, when they thought they were only paying for one. It pissed me off when JM kept saying "But now you have no problem with her being there. You had a problem before, but now you don't and you still want money. Okay." It's like "Bitch, we didn't *_know_* she was there before. We thought we were the only people there, but it turned out that that we were paying for the utilities of _two_ families instead of just ours." Then the judge had the nerve to mock them for renting out the basement and using that money to help them pay the rent. I swear, half the time I think these judges either need to go back to law school or just get off the bench entirely. They can't seem to make up their minds what they think, first they say one thing in one case, then say the complete opposite in another. And get mad if you call them on their bullshit. Does she have a show just so she can mock people? She mocked the plaintiff for wanting money, and the plaintiff explained that the housing market is different now. And yet judges just _love_ saying "Cars depreciate in value, so I can only give you what it's worth now." but they throw a fucking bitch-fit if something goes _up_ in value.

I don’t understand why so many folks think that landlords take advantage of tenants moreso than the inverse. Laws are not friendly to landlords. They don’t let landlords get away with anything outside of what is in a lease agreement. Tenants tend to game the system more

You're getting sloppy you're cutting the end of the show off. So we don't get the conclusion this has happened at least twice recently.

Now I wnt to be Nancy Drew and get to the bottom of this. 1) fall case posts have been dwindling since the cancellation announcement. 2) two days in a row of "full" cases with no verdict or Doug in the hall/Harvey on the street. Theory: someone who runs this account heard that their job just ended (though the show was canceled a while back, maybe this SM account was going to keep going) and is doing these irritating acts as retribution. Problem is, if I want to complain, who do I talk to at Stu Billet productions since I highly doubt anyone's working on this show anymore. They're all in the wind.

I would have left as soon as I found out the son, or her, with sponging off of me (using my utilities). I would have texted her about the situation, and the fact that she was using our utilities without our knowledge or agreement ("You said you were only going to store some things down there, and then I find out you're living there, using our utilities..."). Then, if she would have admitted it, I would have said we're moving out. She breached the agreement by having somebody else living off of their utilities. If I didn't have enough proof to prove that you've reached the agreement, I would have only paid a portion of the utilities (pro-rated based on the number of people in the house), and I would have insisted on seeing the bills I also would not be okay with having utilities in her name and us paying it, unless I saw the bills.
