I opened up for Paul's solo band in 1991. I asked him about the scream in the middle of this song and he said "That wasn't me,that was Ronnie Dio" A few years I meet Jake E Lee and tell him this story and he agrees and laughs that Paul admitted that . great song !!
pepperbelly68 that ain’t Ronnie. That’s all Paul. Nice of Paul to give Ronnie that kinda love but that’s all Paul right there. Ronnie was less raspy. Paul was the epitome of raspy!
I read on Rock Faces Magazine that Paul Shortino and Stephen pearcy of Ratt started playing guitar together.., there are so many LA 80’s Rock stories that will go away after our generation leaves
That doesn't make sense. Shortino was born in Ohio and moved to LA as a teenager - Pearcy is from San Diego and that's where he began to play guitar. Very doubtful they learned to play guitar together. However, they did share a few band members in the early days, incl. Jake, Dave Alford, Matt Thorne, and Joey Cristofanilli.
This song kinda reminds me of Aimless Lady by Grand Funk Railroad. Jake E Lee and his vibrato is so recognizable, phenomenal player. Definitely in my top 3.
Used and abused, ripped off and put to shame. Ozzy did all of the above to Jake and many others. Yeah I agree he smokes all of them. Brad Gillis really stepped up to the plate. Not very many could do what he did. Randy wasn't around long enough to fully get his own sound. Wait until we hear Zakk cover Dimebag Darrel! BTW: I consider Ozzy one of Tony's singer's! 😎🤘
1983 ‘rough cutt’ opened for Saxon, piece of mind’ headlined. Rough cutt opened for whitesnake John Sykes in 83 if not mistaken. Might have been ‘great white’? I seen rough cutt many times. 83, 84, haha! The worst. Axe ‘rock n roll party street’ LMAO.
I can understand why Jake quit this band. Great song but the vocals are blase, especially for the time and the song structure is basically a rip off of the Dio style. Almost as if Dio produced this act to sound as much like himself as possible
When I met Jake in 2015 he and I actually talked about these few Rough Cutt songs he played on. He was also jamming with DIO at the time because Ronnie was putting together his solo band....he said it was just him on guitar, Vinnie Appice on drums and RJD on bass and vocals. He said he never knew if he was ever "really" in the band...it was just RJD wanted to work on some ideas, Dio had seen Jake play with Rough Cutt and thought he was talented. Jake laughed and said "here I am playing with a band...potentially getting snatched up by the guy who used to sing for Sabbath and is supposed to be producing/managing them....and then out of nowhere I get the gig with the original Sabbath singer" He said Wendy Dio definitely has some demos of them jamming in RJDs garage.....nothing recorded well at all.....and he said contrary to popular belief he never wrote the intro to Don't talk to Strangers off Holy Diver.
