The point of this remake was more about how much the show has changed its analysis process and refined things than anything else. They have admitted in their casts that they had no idea what they were doing let a lone a process for doing it. Where as now it's an entire team of researchers with an actual structure for how things are looked at.
That and it feels like they understand these characters. Sure, they are still as cruel at killing the other, but they atleast try to make sense as to why they fight.
I think the big difference is that this felt less like a death battle and more like an intense spar between to friends. Goku knows when Superman is holding back and essentially pushes Superman to let loose. And it's obvious Superman is enjoying himself. Overall, it's just fun for them, and that kinda makes it fun for us too.

Gokus “finally” as Superman charges at him from space knowing he’s finally driven Superman to go all out in their fight, doesn’t care if he loses, just happy to see him at his strongest, definitely the best of the trilogy.
i'm so, SO tired of people insisting all the battle animations follow patterns. There are just as many examples if not more of Death Battle episodes where whomever starts with the upper hand wins the whole thing in the end lmao, and even then, this time the characters explicitly point out how anything else would have been really out of character. Why tf would Superman ever start a friendly fight going all out? Of course Goku would have to coax him into putting in effort. They even use the famous "world made of cardboard" speech beautifully to show that in a positive light, that with Goku he can finally let loose and actually enjoy his strength and have a good time. Goku does that to people all the time in his own stories, it's one of his most well-liked traits. And just for good measure, Pre-Crisis Superman has sought out abandoned universes before. If people really gotta be so boring that they're hung up on that of all things, there's no reason not to think it's the same situation here. The forest they started in didn't even have wildlife. Episodes like Hulk vs Broly deliberately added animals. "typical death battle" sounds so cynical and for no reason at all lol. Calling it pointless or for the money is silly, it was a clear labor of love from the team to actually do the matchup justice for once. Ain't no way a webshow of their scale is getting any major financial gain out of this, thinking so off rip is depressing

They're definitely not. DB more than anything is a passion project that happened to gain success. Honestly, saying that they're doing it only for the money is incredibly disrespectful to the DB crew. If they really wanted to do this strictly for the money they wouldn't be hiring professional animators, professional VA's and a composer that makes an original song for every single episode since his arrival. The show doesn't make as much money as it used to clearly, yet they're likely spending way more money on these episodes than they used to.
@@SushiGhost97 Once you get past the fact they use ripped game models for the character for the 3D battles, it's all amazing animation/sound design/effects/etc work. Even I sometimes use parts of game model assets to help in my art creation with my own 3D models.

We all knew how this fight would turn out before even clicking on the video. Screw Attack made it a point in the last two battles that Goku could NEVER beat Superman. Almost no one can given the rules of this show. But that's not the point. Goku will always, forever, gain new powers and skills and DC will always reboot and change things. But to complain that there was no point to this is silly. For starters, Goku did gain a lot of power that puts him on a closer level to matching Superman. Mind you, he still has a LONG way to go, but his new powers do make for a more interesting (or at least visually pleasing) fight. There's also the fact that a lot of DB fans were saying Superman would lose to ultra instinct (forgetting that Superman has basically the same power in some canons). So good a time as any to have round 3. Second, I love how Superman and Goku are now just pals. No animosity between them. Just two bros testing each other's straight. Much better than having the hatred that some DBZ fans have towards Superman bleed into the video. They're just here for a spectacle fight, not an actual "death battle".
@@shahross8366based on his "absorb power" depending on the writer his absorbing ability let him charge with the sun and get "unlimited" power and become superman 1 million wich is a god with absurd powers in the other hand we have goku he can grow and become stronger able to fight the gods of his world but... the problem will always be that he has limits and even if he overcome them there will be new ones, he kind of needs a tecnique that can "hurt and kill" superman but if we are talking about 1 million superman im not even sure anything can hurt him at that point. Pd: the only stuff that can beat "unlimited power" if im not mistaken is the "toon force" and is because the toon force is like breaking the 4 wall, everything becomes a "joke" so any power lost his meaning in that world.
I knew Superman was going to win, but I'm still glad they gave the characters one final hurrah and did them justice. Still wish Goku would win in a death battle though, maybe in the future they put him up against someone else now that this one was made
We need to agree that this DB Goku vs Superman was the best and best explained. And finally Goku and Superman here are friends not enemis because if anyone knows both charcters its obvious that Goku and Sups would be 100% friends not enemies. Goku can never beat Superman. They're nowhere near the same tier of power level. If Goku is an A tier character. Superman is an SSS+ GOD tier character. I think they only did this bc dragon ball couldn't take an L and kept asking for a rematch. It's was made clear that Goku is a character that constantly breaks his own limits and gets stronger. While Superman is a character that has no limit. Come on even after 10 years why is still a debate. Have Goku fight against someone of his own power level. This is just embarrassing atp.
Even if the result is the same, I still prefer this over GvS2, where they just completely character-assassinated Goku by having him give up on wanting to get stronger just because he fought Superman twice. Much as id like to agree that this is "the final difinitive answer" it isnt. We still have yet to see "end of Z" goku. And what hes truly capable of. "End of Z" goku hasnt shown up yet in any media besides the end of DBZ. When he goes off to train uub; (gt is non canon we dont count that) and by word of the author Toriyama at the "end of z" Goku is the strongest character in all of dragonball. Meaning at some point he surpasses even the gods that hes still below at this point. And who knows what hed be capable of then. Hope DB does another one, just because itd be fun. At this point i can see why we don't have a superman movie or WB don't want to make a justice league movie and games. In order to end all crime, hunger and poverty he'd have to conquer the world and become a dictator. That's why the best written "evil Superman" stories have him as a benevolent dictator, where his morals stay the same but his methods become evil. That's why Clark Kent writes pieces pointing out human issues and gently suggesting possible solutions.
@generalaries1st960 they didn't go in depth for heroes for the same reason they don't go in depth for the DC cosmology, they want to keep the explanations relatively simple for people not familiar with that stuff, like how Superman has outerversal feats, but anyone who isn't deep into powerscaling has no clue what that means. Of course, they usually are correct with one character being stronger than another, but they tend to downsize their feats for comprehensibility
